General Description
The Program Director is responsible for the overall programming and operation of the Refugio Program at the local center. The Director ensures all daily living needs and essential treatment services are provided to UACs. This involves creating and supporting a physical and emotionally safe environment for residents and staff as well as utilizing a teaching component in all program components and interactions.


About You

You should like working with children of all ages. Should be able to multi-task, be detail-oriented, be organized, and have excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Master’s degree from an accredited college or university with a focusinCounseling, Criminal Justice, Education, Psychology, Sociology, or Social Work.
  • Substitution: Professional experience in the treatment of juveniles whichinvolvedgroup or individual counseling techniques may substitute on a year-for-year basis for deficiencies in the required degree.
  • Five years of professional experience in social work, preferably in the treatment of juveniles with supervisory duties. Provide group and individual counseling and related treatment services.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office 365, Foster Care System, Faith-based/CBOs in the area
  • Bilingual: English and Spanish
  • Driver’s License
  • Licensed Child Care Administratorrequired

Preferred Qualifications
  • It is preferred that candidates have competencies in:Diversity, Conflict Management, Communication, Detail-Orientation, Organizational Leadership,Budgeting, Compliance, Trauma, Public Relationships
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google software

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Plans, implements, supervises, and evaluates the details of the program, including the treatment models’ fidelity, and the provision of individualized services for UACs.
  • Promotes and extends the culture of Urban Strategies anditsvalues
  • Prepares reports on the progress ofyouth; prepares reports and documentation relating to staff.
  • Overseesand whennecessaryleads in guiding the group interaction process.
  • In conjunction with Human Resources, screens, interviews, and hires staff, and provides specific program-related orientation fornew staff.
  • With assistance from the Program Management Team,monitorsprogress and ensures training compliance.
  • Ensures programoperateswithin budgetary constraints.
  • Initiatespurchaserequests;receives supplies and equipment; andmaintainsrelated fiscal and inventory control records.
  • Maintains personnel and budgetary records for the facility, including personal accounts for assigned youth.
  • Develops and promotes community relations with public and/or private social services and other agencies, and programs.
  • Meets with local officials, public and private agency heads, community groups, and thegeneral publicto explain the facility’s functions, programs, and role in the community.
  • Solicits community support.
  • Supervises the planning of menus and food services.
  • Ensure the maintenance and cleanliness of the physical facility, and the upkeep and operation of on-site equipment.
  • Maintains security in buildings, grounds, and other posts; intervenes during emergencies or altercations to prevent escapes andmaintainsphysical control of youth twenty-four [24] hours a day, seven [7] days a week.
  • Developscommunity resources.
  • Assistsin the development and implementation of treatment plans and programs.
  • Supervises staff and youth working a variety of shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime; ability to respond to crises situations when necessary.
  • Establishes andmaintainsworking relationships with staff, community groups,the courts, other agencies, and thegeneral public.
  • Exercises considerable judgment,discretionand initiative in the performance of duties within established policies and procedures.
  • Performs other related work as assigned.
