The Program Manager will be responsible for providing strategic and tactical leadership to execute all aspects of a demonstrator aircraft design-build-test program. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in managing complete aircraft design cycles and builds, a proven track record of successful leadership, and a deep understanding and experience with leading a demonstrator aircraft build. Summary:
Founded in 1982 by legendary aircraft designer Burt Rutan, Scaled Composites is an aerospace company continually working to push boundaries, prove out ideas, and influence the future. We are a rapid prototyping and manufacturing facility, designing, building, and testing proof-of-concept and prototype vehicles. Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

All aspects of the execution of a demonstrator aircraft build program, to include responsibility for the cost, schedule, and technical performance.

Contract negotiations, change management, preparing proposals, business plans, proposal work statements, specifications, and financial terms/conditions for this contract.

Acting as the primary internal contact for program activities, leading program review sessions with the customer to discuss cost, schedule, and technical performance.

Interfacing with the customer on a regular basis.

Establishing milestones and monitoring adherence to master plans and schedules, identifying program problems and obtaining solutions, such as allocation of resources or changing contractual specifications.

Directing the work of employees assigned to the program in the areas of technical design, manufacturing execution, and administrative support across a multitude of disciplines.
Education and Experience:
-
Bachelor’s Degree with 10 years of aerospace, military, or other relevant industry experience OR a master’s degree with 8 years of aerospace, military, or other relevant industry experience

Minimum of 3 years’ leadership experience in a rapid prototyping environment.

Demonstrated past performance in leading a cross-functional engineering, manufacturing, and business management team across the lifecycle of the clean-sheet design-build-test of a demonstrator aircraft program.
Preferred Qualifications:

Demonstrated ability to lead and manage cross-functional teams

5 or more years of leadership experience in a prototype team environment

Program management experience in a defense or production industry - Experience in Manufacturing, Operations, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Global Supply Chain, or Project Management

Financial experience in EVMS or similar cost and schedule management systems

Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.

Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance
