Job Description:

This position is a part-time (0.5 FTE), fixed-term appointment concluding on June 30, 2026. Extensions beyond this date are not guaranteed and remain at the university's discretion until the role is permanently filled.

The School of Technology & Computing (STC) is seeking two interim Program Managers to lead our Artificial Intelligence (AI) & Computer Science (CS) and Cybersecurity (CY) & Data Science (DS) initiatives.

In this critical assistant leadership position, you will play a key role in connecting academic excellence with Seattle's vibrant high-tech, maritime, and healthcare industries. Job Summary:

Program Managers support Program Directors and are instrumental in delivering a high-quality student experience. They ensure the effectiveness of critical program components, including curriculum design, assessment, technology integration, and ongoing program development. Additionally, Program Managers foster student growth, supervise the student journey, and may participate in academic governance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintains program currency and assists in the effort to review and revise programs to enhance student learning experience.
  • Assumes responsibility, serving as a subject matter expert, for developing program components as assigned and for evaluating and updating existing curriculum.
  • Supports student learning and engagement.
  • Ensures effective orientation, training, mentoring, and coaching for students to foster a respectful, empowering learning environment that contributes to a positive student experience.
  • Problem solves students' issues related to courses.
  • Provides quarterly check-ins with students in assigned programs and creates opportunities for engagement outside of the classroom environment.
  • Engages in academic and institutional governance by serving on councils and committees.
  • Models, encourages, and promotes scholarships in teaching and learning.
  • Participates in and promotes professional communities in area(s) of expertise.
  • Teaches or develops 50% of 3 courses a year or the equivalent, within compensation. Models excellence in teaching and learning and fosters student development. Courses taught within the compensation teaching requirement must be fulfilled prior to engaging in out of compensation teaching.
  • Stays current with industry trends, standards, and best practices to ensure course content remains relevant and current.
  • Serves on committees and councils as assigned.
  • Continues to support applied research and/or publish articles on technology and computing.


Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below represent the knowledge, skills, and abilities required.   • Undergraduate degree in STEM fields
  • Master's degree in AI, CS, DS, or CY
  • At least one industry certification related to AI, CS, DS, or CY
  • Experience in higher education management and adult education, with a minimum of two years of proven experience in teaching, preferably in both in-class and online modes of educational delivery.
  • Proven evidence in research and/or teaching in AI, CS, DS, or CY
  • At least two (2) or more years of progressively responsible work in the tech industry are required.
  • Possesses a genuine understanding of the practitioner-faculty model and the importance of providing students with the highest quality educational experience in technology and computing.
  • Experience addressing student academic-related issues and concerns.
  • Experience managing virtual teams.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills. Must be able to relate to and communicate with diverse students, faculty, staff, and external communities.
  • Ability to present a professional image on behalf of the academic school and CityU as appropriate.

Desired Qualifications:

  • An earned doctoral degree from an accredited institution in AI, CS, CY, or DS
  • At least one (1) or more publications in AI, CS, CY, or DS within three years
  • Industry certifications in AI, CS, CY, or DS
  • Background in AI Engineering, Digital Twin, Physical AI, Cybersecurity in Operational Technology

Salary information:

$52,500/year
