About the Agency : The Division of Occupational and Professional Licenses (DOPL) provides consumer protection and public safety through its regulation of more than 250,000 licensees within more than 44 Boards and Commissions here in the great State of Idaho.

This Inspections Supervisor position is a great opportunity for a professional who's looking to provide consumer protection and public safety for all Idahoans.

This position will supervise staff involved in the inspection, audit, and compliance of establishments licensed under the professional and occupational licensing acts administered by the Division. The incumbent ensures adherence to state and federal safety, sanitation, and record keeping laws and regulations; oversees investigations into alleged violations; and performs related work.

Example of Duties:

    • Oversee a team of inspectors; plan inspection schedules; assign work; and evaluate the performance of staff conducting both safety/sanitation inspections and audits.
    • Review reports regarding deficiencies in sanitation and storage practices, and recordkeeping requirements. Provide case presentations to boards, and inspection program updates.
    • Assist the Boards’ Prosecutor in case preparation; and testify in court or administrative hearings.
    • Advise staff on the interpretation of laws and administrative rules.
    • Provide guidance on emergency actions
    • Develop inspection policies; recommend resource needs; and monitor the industry for trends that may affect inspection processes
    • Conduct on-site inspections of licensed establishments, audit staff performance, and address complex safety/sanitation issues.
    • Regular travel and irregular schedules may be required
  • Minimum Qualifications:

    • Some knowledge of management practices
    • Experience developing procedures and/or monitoring a budget; supervising staff; providing liaison with customer/provider groups; interpreting federal or state regulations
  • MQ Specialties:

    • Valid driver’s license
    • Investigating complaints of violations of rules, policies and/or laws and preparing reports with recommendations.
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Good Knowledge of:

    • Rules of evidence, due process rights, and investigative techniques.
    • Supervisory practices, including training and performance evaluation.
  • Experience:

    • Interpreting and applying laws and regulations and explaining them to others.
    • Making oral presentations before boards or professional groups.
    • Conducting on-site compliance inspections
