Job Summary

As a Project Controls Engineer, you’re responsible to handle cost engineering functions involving budget preparation, cost control, forecasting and cost reporting, you will Monitor, evaluate and update project cost data on budgeted amounts, reconcile and coordinate project cost data with client status reports. You will work with Project team, Design & Engineering, PMO, HR and Finance teams to develop cost budgets from concept studies.

Job Functions

Planning & Cost Control


Main Duties & Responsibilities:

Reviewing and understanding Project Contract, Tender Documents and all relevant project document.

Collaborating with project stakeholders to estimate costs associated with labour, materials, equipment, and other resources required for project implementation. Creating and managing project budgets, monitoring expenses, and identifying cost-saving opportunities.

Developing comprehensive project plans that outline project scope, objectives, deliverables, timelines, and resource requirements. Creating detailed schedules using tools like Primavera P6 to ensure all project activities are properly sequenced and aligned. Monitor and update both Cost Baselines and Time baselines.

Identifying potential risks that could impact project success and developing strategies to mitigate these risks. Regularly reviewing risk registers and implementing contingency plans when necessary.

Monitoring project progress against established schedules and milestones. Generating regular status reports and dashboards that provide insights into project performance, resource utilisation, and overall health.

Evaluating change requests and their potential impact on project scope, schedule, and budget. Implementing change management processes to ensure changes are properly assessed, approved, and integrated into the project plan.

Managing the allocation of resources, including personnel, equipment, and materials, to various project tasks. Optimising resource utilisation to achieve project objectives efficiently.

Analysing project performance data to identify trends, deviations from the plan, and areas for improvement. Using performance metrics to drive continuous improvement efforts.

Reviewing payment applications or invoices and making recommendation.

Reviewing cost commitment and expenditure information for input to computerised cost control and reporting system.

Producing project progress reports and advising management of project roadblocks.

Contribute in day-to-day site issues solving.

Prepare Project Progress Dashboards.

Attend Internal and External Meetings.

Conducting post-project evaluations to capture lessons learned and best practices. Incorporating these insights into future projects to enhance overall project management practices.

Performs any other duties as directed by the Senior Manager.


Requirements

Essential:

Education: Bachelor degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent.

5-7 years of experience with at least 3 years proven track record experience in a similar role ideally within one of the leading Infrastructure Companies.

Good knowledge of Primavera Project Management.

Excellent problem solving, analytical and business intelligence skills.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills in the English language.

Ability to manage multiple projects adhering to logistics, timescales and deadlines.

IT literate – MS Office (including Word, Excel and Outlook).

Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Desirable:

Experience of using ERP D 365 to fetch business information is an asset.

PMP or Project Management related Certification.

Proficiency in Arabic language.

Experience of working in a multi-cultural environment is an asset.
