About the Position

Ready to keep the wheels turning on some of the most critical transit projects in the region? This is your chance as a Project Coordinator to shape the future of rail and transit infrastructure. We're looking for a detail-driven professional who thrives on precision and accountability - someone who can master the art of project set-up, cost control, and financial oversight. In this role, you'll be at the heart of complex projects, managing budgets, tracking invoices, and ensuring every dollar is accounted for. If you're passionate about keeping large-scale transit initiatives on track and on budget, this is the opportunity to make a real impact.

This is a long-term, full-time, hybrid (1 to 2 days per week in office) position located in Washington DC.

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Maintain a strong understanding of project guidelines and procedures relevant to assigned work.
  • Update and manage project data within Procore, including entering key information and uploading supporting documentation.
  • Generate and review bi-weekly labor reports, partnering with Project Managers to identify discrepancies and prevent unauthorized charges, ensuring budget accuracy.
  • Prepare monthly expenditure reports for assigned projects and compile balance summaries for overall program tracking.
  • Coordinate with project teams and accounting personnel to process invoices, refunds, and other financial transactions, while supporting timely cost estimates and financial forecasting.
  • Assist construction teams in developing cost estimates and forecasts to strengthen budgeting and cost control efforts.
  • Serve as a financial resource for project teams by providing accurate, timely data to support decision-making and oversight.
  • Submit daily logs promptly through Procore.
  • Perform additional project-related duties as assigned by the Task Manager.

Attributes

  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent multi-tasking and organizational skills.
  • Collaborative mindset that fosters teamwork, trust, and positive relationships.
  • Natural curiosity, problem-solving abilities, and a passion for continuous improvement.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, architecture, or related field, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in project controls or project assistant for heavy civil infrastructure projects.
  • Experience coordinating a project management team.
  • Strong knowledge of principles and practices of project management and contract administration with a focus on cost controls.
  • Experience with industry standard project and construction management software (e.g., Primavera P6, TILOS, MS Project, Bluebeam, RSMeans, etc.).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite/Office 365 (e.g., Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Proficiency with Procore and Oracle Peoplesoft.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in construction management, engineering, or architecture.
  • Active professional certifications such as PMP or APM (PMI).
  • PE license in relevant jurisdiction(s).
  • Experience with large (>$500M), complex, heavy-civil infrastructure projects that include highways, roads, bridges, transit (including rail and bus), and/or airport projects.
  • Experience delivering projects through both traditional and alternative methods (e.g., DB, CM/GC, P3).
  • Experience in project management roles supporting owners.
  • Experience with Microsoft Power BI, Oracle Cloud Analytics, or other dashboard KPI reporting software.
