Project Designer

We are a high-end lighting design firm with projects located primarily in the Bay Area, Los Angeles, New York and Florida. We are searching for an individual with lighting design and project management experience to be part of a creative team that works with Architects, Interior Designers, Developers, Contractors, and discerning homeowners. Project Designers are responsible for assisting Design Principals to ensure the timely and cost-effective completion of lighting design by overseeing all phases of the project. This entails working with a variety of stakeholders to schedule and plan work, coordinate equipment and materials, operate within budget, and monitor overall progress. Project Designers are required to occasionally travel to project locations.

Duties & Responsibilities

Assist Design Principle in all phases of design and implementation

Manage relationships with Architects, General Contractors, Electricians and subcontractors as required per project

Rough draft of initial design

Lighting plan development and documentation

Lighting fixture specifications and mock up.

Review incoming project documentation and work with PM to task appropriately

Manage projects to meet established timelines

Provide prompt, professional, and consistently high levels of customer service

Coordinate site visits for Design Principals, control system staff and for final focuses

Redline plans and coordinate with CAD and Controls Department staff

Review, coordinate, organize, and maintain all project documentation and correspondences

Assist with ACAD work as needed

Job Requirements

3-5 years Architectural or Construction experience

3-5 years of AutoCAD experience

Excellent Communication - Written and Verbal

Ability to effectively manage demanding customers and complex situations

Lighting Design and/or Interior Design experience a plus

Basic understanding of lighting controls or willingness to learn

Domestic and potentially international travel;

Capable and comfortable working on a ladder at construction locations

Hourly, non-exempt – $30-$38/hour based on experience

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $41.00 - $44.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
