Position Summary Northern Ohio Recovery Association (NORA), a nonprofit organization committed to promoting long-term recovery and wellness through peer-based support and evidence-based treatment services, is seeking a highly organized and strategic Project Director. This role is responsible for leading, coordinating, and overseeing agency projects across clinical, recovery support, and prevention divisions—particularly those funded by grants or contracts. The Project Director ensures that projects are delivered on time, within scope, and in alignment with funder requirements and NORA’s mission. This position partners closely with leadership, grant administration, finance, and program teams to maintain high-quality implementation, compliance, and continuous improvement.
'Key Responsibilities
- Lead planning, implementation, and oversight of assigned projects across NORA’s clinical, recovery support, and prevention programs.
- Ensure compliance with all grant and contract requirements, including documentation, timelines, deliverables, and reporting.
- Develop detailed project plans, timelines, and workflows in collaboration with internal departments.
- Monitor progress, identify barriers, and implement solutions to keep projects on track.
- Collaborate with the Director of Grants Administration to support reporting, data collection, and communication with funders.
- Provide direct supervision to project-specific staff and ensure quality and accountability across project teams.

- Work with Finance to track project budgets, spending, and allowable costs.
- Coordinate implementation of new programs, services, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Support training, onboarding, and development of project staff.
- Serve as a liaison with partners, stakeholders, and community agencies involved in project activities.
- Ensure all project activities align with NORA standards, regulatory requirements, and evidence-based practices.
- Maintain high-quality records, documentation, and internal reporting systems.
- Participate in strategic planning, organizational development efforts, and cross-departmental initiatives.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support organizational capacity and mission delivery. Qualifications
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in project management, program management, grant implementation, or related work in behavioral health, recovery services, or nonprofit settings.
- Strong understanding of behavioral health operations, prevention services, and recovery support models.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and coordinate cross-functional teams.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong understanding of compliance, documentation requirements, and funder expectations.
- Ability to work independently with sound judgment and strong organizational skills.
- Proficiency with project management tools, Microsoft Office, and data systems.
- Experience in quality improvement or program evaluation.
- Familiarity with outcome measurement and data-driven decision-making.
- Strong ability to build relationships, lead cross-functional teams, and manage complex workflow systems.

Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Social Work, Psychology, Public Health, Business, or related field required. Master’s degree preferred. Equivalent experience may be considered. Preferred Skills
- Experience managing state or federal grants (OhioMHAS, SAMHSA, HRSA, HUD, etc.).
- Project Management Professional (PMP) or similar certification preferred but not required.
