Project Engineer

Position Summary
The Project Engineer will play a key role in supporting environmental construction projects from planning through execution. This role involves technical oversight, coordination with field teams, and ensuring that projects meet design, regulatory, and client requirements. The Project Engineer will work closely with project managers, superintendents, and environmental scientists to ensure safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible project delivery.

This role is a hybrid role that will require you to be onsite at project sites at least 3 days per week to start, 1-2 days after.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the planning, coordination, and execution of construction and environmental restoration projects.
  • Review project designs, specifications, and drawings to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and project requirements.
  • Support field operations by providing technical guidance, tracking progress, and addressing design or environmental challenges.
  • Prepare and maintain project documentation, including RFIs, submittals, permits, and compliance reports.
  • Monitor construction activities to ensure adherence to safety, quality, and environmental standards.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, subcontractors, and regulatory agencies to maintain alignment on project goals.
  • Track budgets, schedules, and materials to support timely and cost-effective project delivery.
  • Participate in project meetings and provide updates on technical and environmental aspects.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
  • 1–3 years of experience in construction, environmental restoration, or related engineering roles (internship/co-op experience may be considered).
  • Experience with Environmental Compliance (SWPPP / Stormwater, Biological and Cultural Monitoring)
  • Knowledge of environmental regulations, permitting, and compliance requirements (CEQA/NEPA, Clean Water Act, Endangered Species Act preferred).
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in construction management software, MS Office Suite, and CAD (preferred).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in field and office environments.
