Job Description:

The Project Manager is responsible for providing technical leadership, management and support in shop construction activities to ensure projects are completed on time and in compliance with cost and quality standards.


Responsibilities:

  • Manage the entire lifecycle of shop construction projects, overseeing material orders, deliveries, and project timelines within budget constraints while maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Identify project resource needs, prepare specifications, evaluate quotes, and coordinate procurement activities, awarding contracts to qualified vendors.
  • Liaise with contractors to communicate project requirements, schedules, and work plans, ensuring adherence to operational procedures and standards while facilitating coordination among multiple contractors.
  • Supervise compilation and rectification of snag lists, coordinating smooth handover of completed projects to operations departments.
  • Oversee on-site construction operations to ensure safety and efficiency, collaborating with the Project Engineer to address deviations from procedures and standards.
  • Manage the receipt and safe storage of materials, ensuring their availability for on-site use, and coordinate furniture installation schedules with relevant stakeholders.
  • Document adherence to quality assurance standards and implement corrective measures to uphold quality throughout project execution.
  • Ensure comprehensive and accurate project documentation, including plans, requirements, design and development records, quality assurance reports, and risk and change management processes.
  • Oversee all snag lists and ensure completion of project handover documents, attending post-project reviews to verify deliverables.
  • Provide periodic reports to senior management at key project stages, offering insights on costs, timelines, risks, and other pertinent details.
  • Collaborate with brand managers to assess technical drawings for project feasibility and alignment with design specifications.
  • Collaborate with managers to review and approve project budgets, monitors expenses, and authorize payments for manpower, materials, contractors, and suppliers, supporting timely remuneration processes.
  • Coordinate with mall management, brand principals, designers, and contractors to ensure clear communication of shop drawings (civil and MEP), schedules, and work programs.
  • Collaborate with third-party suppliers and mall management/developers to ensure compliance with Mall Fit Out Criteria and guidelines during new store fit-outs and renovations.
  • Recruit, train, motivate, and evaluate the team to ensure that the department has the necessary skill base, and that staff are optimally motivated and enabled to maximize their potential and contribution to the company.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in architecture or civil engineering from reputable university
  • 2–3 years of experience in fit-out projects (retail or F&B preferred)
  • Previous work with main fit-out contractors or owner/client organizations
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Knowledge of MS Project or any project management tool is a plus
  • Good understanding of project drawings, BOQs, and site execution
