Project Engineer

Position Summary

Reporting to the Project Manager, the Project Engineer is a field based position that plays a critical role supporting the planning and execution of trenchless construction projects, with a primary focus on trenchless operations.

Key Responsibilities

Project Coordination and Execution

• Support the Project Manager with planning, scheduling, and execution of trenchless construction projects
• Maintain project schedules, logs, and tracking tools
• Coordinate engineering deliverables and interface with Engineers of Record
• Assist with project cost tracking, reporting, and performance monitoring
• Support procurement and coordination of equipment and materials

Documentation and Reporting

• Prepare daily reports, progress reports, and project status updates
• Maintain project documentation, logs, and governing documents
• Track engineering, geotechnical, and regulatory deliverables
• Record meeting minutes and assist with coordination meetings
• Support regulatory applications and permit tracking

Field and Stakeholder Coordination

• Act as a coordination point between field crews, engineering teams, and management
• Support active trenchless construction operations
• Ensure project inputs are aligned with execution plans
• Assist with estimating and business development support when required

Safety and Quality

• Promote and uphold The Tunneling Company’s safety culture
• Ensure compliance with safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
• Support quality control and compliance with project specifications

Qualifications and Experience

Required:

• Engineering degree or diploma in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or related field
• 1–5 years of construction or heavy civil project experience
• Strong organizational and documentation skills
• Excellent communication and coordination skills

• Experience in trenchless construction
• Experience supporting heavy civil or infrastructure projects
