Position Summary
Reporting to the Project Manager, the Project Engineer is a field based position that plays a critical role supporting the planning and execution of trenchless construction projects, with a primary focus on trenchless operations.
Key Responsibilities
Project Coordination and Execution
- Support the Project Manager with planning, scheduling, and execution of trenchless construction projects
- Maintain project schedules, logs, and tracking tools
- Coordinate engineering deliverables and interface with Engineers of Record
- Assist with project cost tracking, reporting, and performance monitoring
- Support procurement and coordination of equipment and materials
Documentation and Reporting
- Prepare daily reports, progress reports, and project status updates
- Maintain project documentation, logs, and governing documents
- Track engineering, geotechnical, and regulatory deliverables
- Record meeting minutes and assist with coordination meetings
- Support regulatory applications and permit tracking
Field and Stakeholder Coordination
- Act as a coordination point between field crews, engineering teams, and management
- Support active trenchless construction operations
- Ensure project inputs are aligned with execution plans
- Assist with estimating and business development support when required
Safety and Quality
- Promote and uphold The Tunneling Company’s safety culture
- Ensure compliance with safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
- Support quality control and compliance with project specifications
Qualifications and Experience
Required:
- Engineering degree or diploma in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or related field
- 1–5 years of construction or heavy civil project experience
- Strong organizational and documentation skills
- Excellent communication and coordination skills
- Experience in trenchless construction
- Experience supporting heavy civil or infrastructure projects
