Job Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee and manage civil engineering projects from inception through to completion. The Project Manager will be responsible for planning, executing, and closing projects according to deadlines, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in civil engineering, project management, and leadership skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Planning & Design:
  • Lead the project planning and design phases, working closely with engineers, architects, and other stakeholders.
  • Ensure that designs meet the client’s requirements, safety regulations, and local codes.
  • Develop detailed project plans, timelines, and work schedules.
  • Budget & Cost Management:
  • Develop and manage project budgets, ensuring costs are within established limits.
  • Monitor project expenditures and identify potential cost-saving opportunities.
  • Approve vendor invoices and manage procurement processes.
  • Team Management:
  • Lead and supervise project teams including engineers, contractors, subcontractors, and other staff.
  • Delegate tasks and responsibilities effectively, ensuring all parties are aligned with project goals and deadlines.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and provide feedback to team members.
  • Project Execution & Monitoring:
  • Oversee the construction or civil engineering work, ensuring it aligns with project specifications and timelines.
  • Manage the coordination between different trades and stakeholders involved in the project.
  • Regularly track and report on project progress, addressing issues as they arise.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality standards throughout the project.
  • Stakeholder Communication:
  • Act as the primary point of contact for clients, consultants, contractors, and other key stakeholders.
  • Provide regular status updates and reports to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Resolve any conflicts or issues that arise with stakeholders.
  • Risk Management:
  • Identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Monitor potential risks related to schedules, costs, safety, and environmental concerns.
  • Project Documentation:
  • Maintain detailed project documentation, including contracts, design drawings, reports, and correspondence.
  • Ensure all legal and regulatory requirements are documented and followed.
  • Oversee the preparation and submission of progress reports, inspections, and approvals.

Requirements:

  • Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • Master’s degree in Project Management, Construction Management, or a related field is a plus.
  • Experience:
  • Minimum of [X] years of experience in civil engineering or construction project management.
  • Proven experience managing large-scale civil projects (roads, bridges, utilities, infrastructure, etc.).
  • Strong knowledge of construction processes, safety regulations, and local building codes.
  • Skills:
  • Exceptional project management skills, including planning, budgeting, scheduling, and risk management.
  • Strong leadership abilities with a focus on team building, conflict resolution, and motivating others.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) with the ability to effectively communicate with clients and stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera) and AutoCAD.
  • Familiarity with quality control processes, safety standards, and environmental regulations in civil engineering.
  • Certifications:
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or similar certification is a plus.
  • LEED or other sustainability-related certifications are desirable.
  • OSHA or other safety certifications preferred.
