Job Purpose: The Civil Project Manager is responsible for leading the planning, execution, monitoring, and successful delivery of civil engineering and construction projects. The role involves managing all project phases, coordinating with stakeholders, ensuring compliance with design and quality standards, and delivering results within scope, time, and budget.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Planning & Execution: Lead project initiation, planning, and mobilization. Define project scope, goals, deliverables, and schedule in coordination with the management. Prepare and monitor detailed project plans, timelines, and work breakdown structures. Oversee day-to-day site operations and ensure smooth workflow and productivity.
- Budget & Cost Control: Develop and manage project budgets and cost control systems. Approve resource allocations, subcontractor payments, and procurement requests. Monitor project expenses and track variances to ensure alignment with approved budgets.
- Team Leadership & Supervision: Supervise site engineers, foremen, and subcontractors to ensure effective project execution. Allocate responsibilities and monitor performance of team members. Conduct progress meetings and resolve any issues affecting performance or schedule.
- Stakeholder & Client Communication: Serve as the primary contact for clients, consultants, and local authorities. Ensure all project correspondence, reports, and updates are delivered timely and professionally. Manage stakeholder expectations and maintain strong client relationships.
- Quality Assurance & HSE Compliance: Ensure strict compliance with project specifications, quality standards, and company policies. Enforce health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations on all project sites. Lead incident investigations and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Documentation & Reporting: Ensure proper documentation of contracts, work progress, change orders, and approvals. Submit weekly and monthly project reports, including progress photos, KPI dashboards, and cost updates. Close projects with proper handover and documentation archiving.
- Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management. Minimum 10 – 15 years of progressive experience in civil construction, with at least 10 years in a project management role. Proven experience managing multi-disciplinary teams and large-scale projects. Strong knowledge of FIDIC contracts, local construction laws, and permitting processes (especially in Oman).
- Core Competencies: Strong leadership and decision-making abilities. Excellent project planning and organizational skills. Effective communication and negotiation with clients and stakeholders. Proficient in MS Project / Primavera P6, AutoCAD, and MS Office, BIM Fluency in English (Arabic is an advantage).
- Preferred Certifications: PMP or equivalent project management certification. HSE certifications (NEBOSH/IOSH) are desirable.
