Job Purpose

The Project Manager will be responsible for planning, executing, and delivering healthcare or commercial laundry projects from concept to full operation. This includes managing new laundry facility setups, hospital laundry contracts, equipment installation, workflow design, staff mobilization, compliance with healthcare hygiene standards, and ensuring on-time, on-budget delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Project Planning & Execution

  • Lead end-to-end execution of healthcare or commercial laundry projects.
  • Develop detailed project plans including scope, timelines, manpower, and budgets.
  • Coordinate with hospitals, consultants, suppliers, and internal operations teams.
  • Ensure smooth commissioning and handover to operations.

Facility & Equipment Setup

  • Oversee installation of laundry machinery (washers, dryers, tunnel washers, ironers, folders, conveyors, etc.).
  • Design efficient laundry layout, workflow, and segregation for clean and dirty areas.
  • Ensure utilities (water, steam, compressed air, drainage, power) are properly installed.

Healthcare Compliance & Hygiene

  • Ensure compliance with healthcare laundry standards such as:
  • Infection control
  • Linen segregation
  • Cross-contamination prevention
  • Sterilization and disinfection processes
  • Implement international standards such as HLAC, RABC, CDC, HTM 01-04, ISO 9001/14001 where applicable.

Operations Readiness

  • Recruit and mobilize laundry staff (managers, supervisors, operators, helpers).
  • Develop SOPs for washing, drying, ironing, packing, storage, and transport.
  • Implement quality control systems for linen cleanliness and damage control.

Cost & Budget Control

  • Prepare CAPEX and OPEX budgets for laundry projects.
  • Control equipment costs, installation costs, manpower, and consumables.
  • Optimize processes to reduce water, chemical, and energy consumption.

Vendor & Stakeholder Management

  • Manage suppliers of machines, chemicals, spare parts, and logistics.
  • Liaise with hospital administration, infection control teams, and auditors.
  • Coordinate with maintenance, engineering, and logistics teams.

Performance & Reporting

  • Monitor KPIs such as:
  • Linen turnaround time
  • Rewash percentage
  • Damage rate
  • Productivity per kg
  • Cost per kg
  • Provide weekly and monthly project and operational reports.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in:
  • Engineering
  • Industrial Management
  • Facilities Management
  • Operations Management
  • Or related field

Experience

  • Minimum 7–10 years experience in:
  • Healthcare laundry, hospital linen services, or
  • Large-scale commercial / industrial laundry operations
  • At least 3–5 years in a project or senior operations management role

Proven experience in:

  • Setting up new laundry plants
  • Hospital laundry contracts
  • Commissioning and start-up operations

Technical Skills

Strong knowledge of:

  • Hospital linen flow and infection control
  • Laundry machinery and production planning
  • Detergent and chemical dosing systems
  • Lean laundry and productivity optimization
  • Ability to read and understand technical layouts and plant drawings

Soft Skills

  • Strong leadership and team management
  • Excellent planning and problem-solving
  • Client-facing and communication skills
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and budgets

Preferred Certifications (Optional)

  • HLAC Certification
  • RABC (EN 14065)
  • Six Sigma / Lean
  • Project Management (PMP or similar)
