We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Project Manager to join our team at K&A Engineering in Charlotte, NC. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work on exciting and challenging projects that make a real impact in the energy and utility sectors. Transmission Project Managers are responsible for leading and managing planned and emergent capital construction projects across the Duke Energy Carolinas geographic footprint. This role oversees the full project lifecycle—from initiation through closeout—while ensuring safety, cost, schedule, and quality objectives are consistently met.

The Transmission Project Manager leads cross-functional project teams that may include design engineers, construction management, material procurement specialists, planners, and construction crews. A strong emphasis is placed on maintaining accurate cost forecasts and schedules, proactively managing risk, and successfully delivering project milestones on time and within budget.

Role Expectations:

  • Manage multiple transmission capital construction projects classified as “White” or “Green I” per the Project Management Center of Excellence (PMCoE) Project Profile Matrix.
  • Lead cross-functional project teams, fostering collaboration, accountability, and performance.
  • Develop, maintain, and actively manage project schedules and cost forecasts throughout the entire project lifecycle.
  • Ensure all project milestones, deliverables, and documentation are completed accurately and on schedule.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks; develop contingency plans as needed.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders and external partners to ensure alignment with project objectives.
  • Conduct frequent field visits to monitor construction progress, resolve issues, and ensure adherence to safety and quality standards.
  • Communicate project status, risks, and performance clearly to stakeholders ranging from individual contributors to senior and executive leadership.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.

What we’re looking for:

  • Minimum 5 years of project management experience.
  • Graduation from an accredited two-year college or university.
  • Working knowledge of project management principles and methodologies.
  • Experience in the utility industry, particularly transmission or construction projects.
  • Working knowledge to proficiency in project scheduling and cost controls.
  • Knowledge of construction management practices.
  • Demonstrated capability in:

Pay Range $43-47.72/hour
