Project Manager II

Description of specific duties in a typical workday for this position:

The Project Manager II supports program management activities. The individual assists with planning, coordination, and execution of projects related to network transport, optical networking, and IT infrastructure supporting defense communications environments.

Responsibilities include supporting development and maintenance of Integrated Master Schedules (IMS), tracking project milestones, and assisting with coordination between engineering teams, program leadership, and external stakeholders. The Project Manager helps ensure projects remain aligned with cost, schedule, and performance objectives.

The role supports coordination of technical reviews, system deployments, testing activities, and acceptance milestones for transport and IP networking systems. The individual works with technical teams to track project progress, identify potential issues, and communicate updates to program leadership.

Additional duties include supporting vendor coordination, assisting with contract and budget tracking, and helping ensure program activities align with applicable DISA technical standards and cybersecurity requirements. The Project Manager also assists with identifying potential risks and supporting mitigation efforts to keep project execution on track.

Requirements (Years of Experience Required):

• 3–5+ years of experience supporting IT, networking, or technical project management activities.
• Experience supporting project scheduling, milestone tracking, or Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) development.
• Experience coordinating with engineering teams, program stakeholders, and technical personnel during project execution.
• Familiarity with networking or transport technologies such as DWDM, OTN, ROADMs, or high-capacity transport systems (100G/400G) is preferred.
• Familiarity with project management tools such as Microsoft Project or similar scheduling tools.
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field.
• Active Secret security clearance required.

Nice to Have:

• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
• Experience supporting DoD or DISA programs.
• Familiarity with DoD acquisition processes or program lifecycle support.
• Experience working in environments supporting optical transport or enterprise networking infrastructure.
• Experience supporting risk management, program reporting, or vendor coordination activities.
