Mechanical engineering projects in industries like base metals production (Aluminium), Industrial construction, manufacturing, oil & gas, energy, HVAC, and infrastructure.


Key Responsibilities


1. Project Planning & Scheduling


· Define project scope, goals, and deliverables.

· Develop detailed project schedules (Gantt charts, milestones).

· Allocate resources (manpower, materials, equipment).

· Identify project risks and create mitigation strategies.


2. Team Management


· Lead and coordinate a multidisciplinary team (engineers, designers, technicians, contractors).

· Assign tasks, set deadlines, and monitor progress.

· Ensure team adherence to engineering standards and procedures.

· Facilitate communication among stakeholders.


3. Budgeting & Cost Control


· Prepare project budgets and cost estimates.

· Monitor expenditures and track project cost against budget.

· Optimize resource utilization and control cost overruns.

· Approve procurement of mechanical components and services.


4. Technical Oversight


· Review and approve mechanical designs, drawings, and specifications.

· Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards (ASME, ISO, API), and safety regulations.

· Collaborate with design and QA/QC teams to ensure quality output.

· Resolve technical challenges during fabrication, installation, and commissioning.


5. Procurement & Vendor Management


· Coordinate with procurement team for material requisitions and vendor selection.

· Evaluate supplier capabilities and performance.

· Ensure timely delivery of mechanical systems and components.

· Review technical documentation (datasheets, test certificates).


6. Installation, Testing & Commissioning


· Supervise site activities: installation, testing, commissioning of mechanical systems (HVAC, piping, rotating & process equipment, etc.).

· Ensure adherence to method statements and safety protocols.

· Liaise with construction/site managers for smooth execution.


7. Documentation & Reporting


· Maintain accurate project documentation: reports, logs, approvals, deviations.

· Provide regular progress updates to senior management or clients.

· Prepare project closure reports and lessons learned documentation.


8. Stakeholder Communication


· Act as the primary point of contact for clients, consultants, and contractors.

· Conduct regular review meetings with stakeholders.

· Address concerns, provide solutions, and manage expectations.


9. Quality & Safety Compliance


· Implement and monitor project quality control systems.

· Ensure adherence to workplace safety (HSE) standards and legal regulations.

· Conduct risk assessments and safety audits.
