Position Summary & Description



Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP) invites applications for the position of Project Manager(M170) at the Indiana main campus.

Essential duties:

  • The Project Manager assists in the review of all construction related elements of facilities capital and maintenance projects, oversees the construction of assigned campus projects administered by the Director, serves as the University’s representative for facility projects involving new construction, renovations, repair and major deferred maintenance programs for buildings, grounds and utility systems and demolition projects.
  • This position will be responsible for independently providing project management services for all assigned university projects in collaboration with the Director of Planning and Construction. The position manages and provides leadership for construction projects from design through construction including budget development, budget management, permitting, safety requirements, quality control and payment tracking and approval.
  • Conducts all job conferences, meetings, reviews and inspections that are involved with the development, design, construction, and acceptance of University facilities projects and coordinates all aspects of the construction program with users/customers/professionals.
  • Coordinates the design of assigned projects with the professional, the stakeholders and the university community including design, specification preparation and document review.
  • This position works closely with the Director of Facilities Maintenance and Operations to coordinate and provide guidance and oversight on in-house projects.
  • This position will develop project estimates for in-house projects as well as develop project budgets for proposed projects in the early phases.
  • Will be responsible for Contracting Out Justification Forms.

This is a non-represented management position.

Position Qualifications

MINIMUM:

  • Associates or Bachelors in a related field or
  • Combination of education and work experience that provides a foundation for successful completion of job functions
PREFERRED:
  • PMP Certification preferred
  • Licensed Architect or Engineer

Essential Functions

The work of this position occurs in a typical office environment. Although infrequent, periods of heavy exertion may occur. Incumbent must have the following abilities:

  • Regular, reliable and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job function, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, professional, harmonious working relationships with others.
  • This position requires work outside normal business hours including evenings and weekends as needed to partner effective, provide prompt customer service and/or as requested by senior HR management.
  • Ability to travel to field locations and meeting/training sites by motor vehicle when required.
  • Communicate both orally and in writing to issue, receive and carry out instructions and orders effectively and to convey information to a variety of co-workers and the general public.
  • Use of variety of common office machines such as telephones, calculators, copiers, computer terminals, keyboards, auxiliary printers, and similar equipment.
  • Perform manual duties such as lifting and carrying various weight limits.
  • Duties performed may require stooping, kneeling, bending, stretching and prolonged standing.
  • Provide assistance and guidance to internal and external customers.
  • Follow oral and written instructions
