Position Overview:

This position is responsible for sourcing and negotiating materials, equipment, and services for large capital projects. The Project Procurement Specialist/Manager provides oversight and guidance to the company’s EPC (Engineering, Procurement, Construction) contractors and other project suppliers. Primary focus is to internal customer’s technical and commercial expectations and schedule requirements are met and supply chain bottlenecks are resolved quickly for project materials and/or services. The Project Procurement Specialist/Manager possesses a strong foundation of standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the procurement field and relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals to perform a variety of tasks. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required. Ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines is critical.


Position Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with internal and external engineering, construction, and project management teams to forecast needs and align procurement equipment and/or construction services with project timelines.
  • Continuous communication to vendors and/or contractors as well as internal and external stakeholders as to order progress and delivery.
  • Compiles records and reports on equipment, materials and/or supplies, tracks and ensures delivery timelines are met.
  • Proactive in identifying and addressing any delays or disruptions that may impact delivery, as well as finding opportunities to improve delivery timelines.
  • Ensure all supply chain activities adhere to company practices, industry standards, safety regulations and project specific requirements. Identify and troubleshoot gaps in collaboration with internal teams and vendors.
  • Reviews and enforces any required flow-down provisions from purchasing to the vendors, ensuring alignment with company polices and customer requirements.
  • Coordinate project needs with internal supply chain teams to ensure all sourcing activities adhere to company practices, industry standards, and project specific requirements.
  • Work closely with internal and external engineering, construction, and project management teams to forecast needs and align procurement equipment and/or construction services with project schedules.
  • Coordination with EPC in its procurement practices such as sourcing supplies, RFP, RFQ, bid analysis, negotiation, and receipt of orders to prepare expanding plans.
  • Coordinate with company’s procurement department’s warehouse and logistics department for material delivery, track material progress and resolve any issues such as shortages, damages etc.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and subcontractors, evaluate their performance, and resolve any issues that affect company quality and delivery commitments.
  • Maintains awareness of current market conditions, supply chain risks, manufacturing lead times, and supply sources for assigned commodities, new technologies, and methods that enhance job performance.


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, or related field; 5+ years of relevant field experiences might be considered in lieu of a degree
  • 5-7 years in supply chain, technical 3rd party inspections, project expediting/scheduling, or a related industrial experience.
  • Several years specifically within an EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) environment and construction or engineering sectors, is essential.
  • Drivers license required to drive company vehicles onsite.

(PPE) Personal Protective Equipment is required when performing work in a mine, manufacturing, outdoor, or plant environment. Required PPE may include, but is not limited to, hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves, and any other protective equipment as required.

Working Conditions - Our facility sits at an elevation of 4,700 feet. Employees may be subject to extreme weather conditions when working in an outdoor setting (heat and cold, wind). Work is at an open pit mine or manufacturing/chemical plant setting, which may include exposure to moving mechanical parts, toxic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, explosives, fumes, or airborne particles.

Physical Demands - Manual dexterity; sense of touch; sense of smell; speaking clearly; hearing-speech range; hearing – all ranges; seeing, reading and comprehensions; seeing – distant/near; depth perception; color vision. While performing the job responsibilities, the employee is required to talk and hear. The employee is often required to stand and use their hands and fingers, to handle or feel and to manipulate laboratory equipment. The employee is occasionally required to walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision. Employees must pass a full-face respiratory fit test. Employees must be able to lift 50 lbs. Must be able to work in PPE level C.
