Role Summary: The Project Risk Controller is responsible for identifying, assessing, mitigating, and monitoring risks throughout the lifecycle of the project. This role ensures that risks are proactively identified and managed to support the project's objectives in terms of scope, cost, schedule, quality, safety, and compliance. The Risk Controller works collaboratively with engineering, procurement, and construction teams, as well as end users, to develop and maintain a robust risk management framework tailored to the complexities of the project.


Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive project risk management plan aligned with corporate and project requirements as per industry best practices.
  • Conduct risk identification workshops with project stakeholders and subject matter experts.
  • Maintain and update a risk register including qualitative and quantitative analysis of potential risks.
  • Perform risk assessments using tools such as Monte Carlo simulations, sensitivity analysis, or decision trees.
  • Monitor project progress and update the risk register to reflect emerging or resolved risks.
  • Work with project manager and discipline leads to define and implement risk mitigation strategies and contingency plans.
  • Coordinate with project planner and cost controller to integrate risk analysis into project planning, cost estimation, and schedule forecasting.
  • Report on risk status, trends, and mitigation effectiveness to senior management.
  • Support contract and procurement teams with risk-related input for vendor selection and claims analysis.
  • Ensure compliance with local regulations and industry specific risk standards.
  • Provide training and support on risk management processes and tools to project teams.


Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in project risk management within large-scale plant construction, oil & gas, power, or industrial infrastructure projects.
  • Experience working on large-scale plant construction projects is highly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of Saudi Arabian project execution environments.
  • Experience with EPC (Engineering, Procurement & Construction) project environments.


Skills:

  • Proficiency in risk management tools such as Primavera Risk Analysis, @Risk, Oracle Crystal Ball, or Active Risk Manager (ARM).
  • Strong command of MS Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint for reporting.
  • Familiarity with project management tools such as Primavera P6, MS Project, and EDMS platforms.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
