Location: Northwestern, Indiana (On-site)

About the Role

We are seeking a Project/Staff Accountant to join our team. The role will support both the Executive Leadership Team and Office staff. The role combines traditional accounting responsibilities with project-based financial oversight. You’ll execute multiple general ledger activities, execute both Field and Office Payroll, assist with month-end and year-end close, and provide financial analysis for ongoing projects.

The ideal candidate must be detail-oriented, highly organized, proactive, self-starter and comfortable working in a dynamic environment where priorities shift quickly. Additionally, the candidate must be able to handle confidential information, be a solid communicator as well as demonstrate the ability to respond effectively to changing workloads and priorities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee project accounting, including tracking budgets, costs, and profitability
  • Prepare and analyze financial statements and project reports
  • Manage day-to-day accounting functions (AP, AR, Job Cost, Payroll and GL entries)
  • Execute and deliver AIA-G702/G703 client based Billing & Compliance requirements.
  • Provide accurate & timely Accounting, Finance and Operational reporting.
  • Support month-end and year-end close processes
  • Perform bank reconciliations and cash flow analysis
  • Collaborate with project managers to ensure accurate cost allocation
  • Assist with audits and compliance reporting
  • Identify process improvements to enhance efficiency

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 5-7+ years of experience in accounting, with exposure to project-based work
  • Proficiency in MS-Office, Excel and accounting systems QuickBooks Contractors Enterprise Edition, Plexxis
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities reliably and with patience and professionalism
  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to quickly learn the organizational structure and objectives of the team
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of constituent groups such as senior management, peers in addition to customers, vendors and suppliers
  • Experience with job costing and project profitability analysis
  • Knowledge of construction accounting

Preferred Skills

  • Familiarity with ERP systems and advanced Excel functions
  • Strong communication skills for cross-functional collaboration
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting

Pay: $60,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
