Project Surplus and Logistics Specialist

Traveling Position

GenPro Energy Solutions has led the charge as one of the Midwest’s leading solar Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) firms. Our team ignited the Nebraska solar market, creating a thriving pipeline of community and municipal projects. Now, with a national footprint, over $168M in annual revenue, and a workforce of 100+ professionals, we partner with developers to build premier solar farms, focusing on community and utility-scale projects across the Midwest. At GenPro, we’re not just constructing solar solutions—we’re powering a sustainable future. Join us to shape the heart of our mission-driven team.

Primary Function:

At GenPro Energy Solutions, we’re leading the charge in sustainable energy innovation. This newly created role is all about maximizing efficiency and sustainability across our solar projects—transforming potential waste into valuable resources. As the Solar Surplus & Logistics Wrangler, you’ll serve as a mobile guardian of our assets—recovering unused materials from project sites, coordinating their reuse, and managing the smooth transport of tools, equipment, and supplies across our operations. This hands-on role blends fieldwork, creative problem-solving, and logistical expertise to help reduce costs, minimize environmental impact, and keep our solar initiatives running at full power. If you’re a detail-oriented road warrior with a passion for construction, sustainability, and smart resource management, this is your chance to wrangle resources and drive real impact in the renewable energy world.

Reporting Relationship: Director of Construction Operations

Pay Grade Range: $33.00 to $45.57 per hour plus bonus opportunity (depending on experience)

Special Requirements:

  • This role requires 50% travel. This position will be responsible for traveling throughout Illinois to various job sites and will spend significant time at GenPro’s warehouse in Illinois. Additional on-site presence, as needed.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Site Surplus Collection and Cataloging: Travel to completed or ongoing solar project sites to identify, collect, and meticulously catalog unused parts and materials, ensuring nothing valuable is left behind.
  • Asset Transportation and Storage: Safely transport collected surplus parts to designated storage facilities using company vehicles, maintaining secure and organized handling throughout the process.
  • Inventory Tracking System Development: Innovate and implement a robust tracking method for surplus parts (e.g., digital databases, or custom spreadsheets) to monitor inventory in real-time, preventing loss and enabling quick retrieval.
  • Supply Chain Collaboration for Reuse: Partner with the supply chain team to assess and allocate surplus parts to upcoming projects, directly contributing to cost savings by prioritizing reused materials over new purchases.
  • Inter-Site Equipment Mobility: Coordinate with solar project teams to relocate tools, equipment, and vehicles from one site to another, optimizing resource distribution and minimizing downtime.
  • Repair and Maintenance Coordination: Manage equipment and vehicle upkeep by scheduling and executing repairs, including driving trucks or hauling gear to dealerships for recall services, routine maintenance, or urgent fixes.
  • Civil Support Hauling: Deliver gravel and other essential materials to job sites to support our civil construction teams, ensuring timely and safe transport to keep projects on track.

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with inventory management software (e.g., Excel, ERP systems).
  • Experience in sustainable practices, such as material recycling or waste reduction in construction.
  • Mechanical aptitude for basic equipment troubleshooting.

Skills/Ability/Other Characteristics:

  • Licensing: Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) in good standing, with experience operating heavy vehicles and hauling loads.
  • Organizational Skills: Proven ability to maintain detailed records and track complex inventories, with a knack for developing efficient systems from scratch.
  • Experience: Background in construction, preferably in solar or renewable energy sectors, with hands-on knowledge of site operations, materials handling, and logistics.
  • Physical and Travel Demands: Comfortable with frequent travel to remote project sites, physical labor (lifting up to 50 lbs), and working in outdoor environments under varying weather conditions.
  • Soft Skills: Strong problem-solving abilities, excellent communication for team collaboration, and a creative mindset for optimizing resources in a fast-paced, evolving industry.
Applicants being considered for hire must pass a background check and drug test before beginning work. Refusal to submit to a background check or drug testing will result in disqualification of further employment consideration.
