Projects Engineer/ CAPEX Coordinator

Position Overview:

The Project / CAPEX Coordinator will be responsible for executing, coordinating, and monitoring capital expenditure (CAPEX) projects across all Gulf extrusion plants. This role ensures that investments in new equipment, revamping, and facility enhancements are executed on time, within budget, and according to technical, safety, civil, and regulatory standards/ legal requirements. The coordinator will serve as the link between engineering, procurement, operations, finance, suppliers, contractors, and authorities to guarantee smooth project execution and alignment with Gulf Extrusions’ strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

Project & CAPEX Management

• Coordinate and monitor all CAPEX projects (Extrusion, Casting House, Surface treatment and Fabrication lines etc.).
• Prepare project plans, timelines, budgets, and progress reports for management review.
• Track expenditures to ensure compliance with approved budgets and report deviations.

Technical & Operational Coordination

• Supervise project execution on-site, ensuring compliance with technical, quality, and HSE standards.
• Coordinate and supervise civil engineering works (foundations, pits, trenches, utilities, flooring, cranes, structural reinforcements) required for new equipment installation.
• Ensure civil contractors deliver according to approved design, schedule, and safety standards.
• Verify site readiness before equipment arrival and installation, minimizing delays.
• Coordinate with local and national authorities (Dubai Municipality, Civil Defense, Ministry of Industry & Advanced Technology, JAFZA, EHS Trakhees, DEWA, etc.) to obtain all required permits and approvals.
• Ensure compliance with UAE labor law, environmental regulations, safety codes, and national standards.

Stakeholder Management

• Act as a central point of contact between management, project teams, operations department, vendors, civil contractors, finance, and authorities.
• Support management in presentations and updates on ongoing CAPEX projects.
• Ensure strong communication across departments to minimize downtime and disruptions.
• Collaborate with internal maintenance and external consultants to align civil works with equipment technical requirements.
• Monitor updates in regulatory frameworks and integrate them into project planning and execution.
• Prepare and submit technical documentation, risk assessments, and compliance reports for regulatory approvals.
• Coordinate factory acceptance tests (FAT), site acceptance tests (SAT), and commissioning activities with suppliers.
• Maintain accurate project documentation including contracts, approvals, schedules, and technical drawings.
• Provide regular status updates to management and prepare project closure reports.
• Ensure that documentation complies with ISO, EHS, and Gulf Extrusions’ standards.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical / Industrial / Civil / Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 3–5 years of experience in project coordination, preferably in aluminium extrusion, metals, or heavy industry.
• Proven experience in handling CAPEX projects (new installations, revamping, modernization).
• Background in coordinating civil and structural works for industrial facilities is an advantage
• Understanding of extrusion processes (billet heating, extrusion, cooling, handling, finishing, surface treatment, Casting and Fabrication).

Preferred Additions

• Prior experience with extrusion line installations preferable
• Knowledge of ERP systems (SAP, Oracle etc)
• Familiarity with project management software (MS Project, Primavera, or similar).
• Strong knowledge of budgeting, cost tracking, and financial reporting.
• Understanding of EHS standards, ISO 9001/14001, OHSAS/ISO 45001, and UAE regulatory frameworks.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings (mechanical + civil).
