Proofreader
Description: Temporary Part-Time
Reports to: Proofreading Manager
Hourly Rate Range: $25 to $35 (commensurate with experience)
Job Summary
We are looking for a meticulous proofreader to join our marketing team on a temporary part-time (up to 29 hours per week) basis. In this role, you will be working with a team of proofreaders and will be responsible for reviewing and polishing a variety of marketing content to ensure accuracy, consistency, and quality. The ideal candidate has an exceptional eye for detail, a passion for language, and the ability to work efficiently in a deadline-driven, fast-paced, ever-changing environment.
Key Responsibilities

Content Review: Proofread and edit print and digital marketing materials, including Awards Season assets, social media posts, email campaigns, website content, blog articles, brochures, and additional advertisements, as well as internal correspondence. Light copywriting may be required.

Quality Assurance: Ensure all written content is error-free, consistent with brand guidelines, and tailored to target audiences.

Fact-Checking: Verify information, names, statistics, and other details to maintain accuracy and credibility.

Collaboration: Work closely with marketing team to improve content quality and clarity, while adhering to various clients’ style guides.

Brand Consistency: Uphold the company’s and/or various clients’ tone, style, and messaging standards across all materials.

Deadline Management: Prioritize tasks effectively to meet tight deadlines and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Communications, or a related field preferred, but not required.

Experience: Proven experience as a proofreader, copyeditor, or similar role, ideally within communications, marketing, or advertising.
Skills:

Exceptional organization and strong grammar skills

Familiarity with AP, Chicago Manual, and MLA style guides

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Proficiency in additional proofreading tools and software (e.g., Words into Type, M-W.com, Acrobat and Microsoft suites, etc.)

Ability to work independently and manage time effectively

Preferred: Experience in communications, marketing, or advertising environment, and familiarity with SEO as well as print and digital marketing terminology.
