The Role:
SYLO is seeking a full-time Property Management Accounting Manager to oversee the accounting functions for a portfolio of both residential and commercial properties in Yardi, playing a supporting role to a small team of property accountants and property managers.
Where:
This role will be on-site in our downtown PDX offices, with potential for a future hybrid-remote transition.
Reports to:
The position will report directly to the Managing Director.
Primary Responsibilities:
- The Property Management Accountant will handle comprehensive bookkeeping, accounts payable and receivables, bank reconciliations, GL coding, and financial statements
- Supervise accounts payable and receivable processes, including vendor billing and payments, management fees and billbacks to tenants, regular and consistent check processing, and maintain accurate tenant ledgers
- Monitor client operating, deposit and reserve cash accounts to make sure no overdrafts occur and ensure transactional compliance with OREA and all other regulatory requirements
- Review/audit bank reconciliations, property management reports, and client financial statements
- Record monthly adjusting and accrual entries, auditing ledger accounts and correcting entries as necessary
- Prepare accurate monthly property level financial statements with supporting documents to send to clients including Monthly/Quarterly/T12 Rent Rolls, Profit & Loss and Balance Sheets
- Provide property and client onboarding and routine review of property accounts with lease and tenant updates as required.
- CAM and NNN reconciliations, and budget tracking.
- Ensure timely submission of annual reports and government/state filings including, but not limited to, 1099 forms
- Process property tax and mortgage payments for clients, as needed
- Manage property accounting policies and procedures, ensuring all property accountants are trained and cross trained to provide a high level of support.
- Demonstrate the ability to multitask, meet deadlines, and apply strong organizational skills
