About York Public Adjusting

At York Public Adjusting, we are dedicated to representing policyholders—not the insurance companies. Founded by industry veteran Garret York (CPCU), our mission is to build community relationships through service, integrity, and accountability. We advocate for homeowners and business owners to ensure they receive what they are entitled to after a loss. We are growing and looking for dedicated individuals to join our team as Inspectors and transition into Licensed Public Adjusters.

The Role

We are looking for detail-oriented, self-motivated Property Inspectors who want more than just a job; we are looking for future Public Adjusters. You will start with training, learning to inspect and quantify property damage (hail, wind, fire, etc.). As you master the inspection process, we will provide the training, mentorship, and support necessary for you to test for your Public Adjuster State License.

Key Responsibilities

  • Property Inspections: Perform thorough on-site inspections of residential and commercial properties to identify and document storm, fire, and water damage.
  • Documentation: Use specialized equipment and software (e.g., Hover, Xactimate, Acculynx) to create detailed reports, photo logs, and preliminary estimates.
  • Client Education: Act as the first point of contact for property owners, explaining their rights and how York Public Adjusting advocates for them.
  • Claim Support: Assist senior adjusters in gathering the necessary evidence to support and maximize client claims.
  • Licensing Track: Actively participate in our internal training program to study for and pass the Illinois Public Adjuster Licensing Exam.

Qualifications

  • Experience: Background in roofing, construction, restoration, or insurance adjusting is a major plus, but we will train the right candidate.
  • Technical Skills: Ability to climb roofs, use ladders, and navigate crawl spaces/attics comfortably.
  • Communication: Strong interpersonal skills; you must be able to build trust with homeowners during stressful times.
  • Integrity: A commitment to honesty and the "customer-first" mentality that defines York Public Adjusting.
  • Requirements: Must have a valid driver’s license. Must be able to pass a background check (required for state licensing).
