Overview
The City of Jennings is accepting applications for the position of Prosecutor Clerk. The City of Jennings Prosecuting Attorney Clerk provides the Municipal Prosecutor assistance with day-to-day administrative support under non-direct supervision. These duties include interacting with the public and providing high quality service to victims, defendants, attorneys, and law enforcement, as well as maintaining high quality case management and organization for the Prosecuting Attorney. All these duties are to be carried out with the highest degree of professionalism. Prior court or related experience preferred. Must have a valid driver’s license.
The start hourly rate is $17.66.

Responsibilities
- Draft clear, precise legal documents including motions, pleadings, briefs, and memoranda that adhere to established standards and court requirements.
- Assist prosecutors in preparing for court proceedings by organizing case files, summarizing evidence, and coordinating witness schedules.
- Manage case documentation meticulously to ensure all records are accurate, complete, and easily accessible for review or court presentation.
- Support administrative tasks such as scheduling hearings, tracking case deadlines, and maintaining communication with relevant parties including attorneys, court staff, and external agencies.
- Participate in legal research projects related to complex issues like land use regulations, tribal laws & regulations, securities compliance, workers' compensation claims, personal injury cases, and patent law matters.
- Stay informed about evolving laws in areas such as environmental regulation and immigration policy to provide current insights during case preparation.
- Collaborate with team members to develop strategies for negotiation or litigation when appropriate.
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold the highest standards of integrity in handling sensitive information.
Skills
- Demonstrated expertise in multiple legal practice areas including estate planning, environmental law, immigration law, family law, securities law, tribal law & regulations, workers' compensation law, personal injury law, patent law, and landlord-tenant law.
- Excellent legal writing skills with the ability to produce well-organized drafts that clearly communicate complex legal concepts.
- Proficiency in legal drafting for motions, pleadings, memoranda of law, and other court documents.
- Experience with litigation support processes including case management and evidence organization.
- Familiarity with legal administrative procedures such as scheduling hearings and tracking deadlines.
- Effective negotiation skills for facilitating settlements or resolving disputes when necessary.
- Ability to interpret laws related to tribal regulations and environmental statutes accurately.
- Strong research capabilities combined with analytical thinking to synthesize information from multiple sources.
- Knowledge of legal research tools like Westlaw and LexisNexis is essential for success in this role.
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail to ensure accuracy across all case documentation.
