Provider Informaticist - I.T. - Hospital - Tulsa

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education – Successful completion of an accredited course of study specifically designed for training professional Advanced Practice Practitioners.

Experience – Minimum of seven (7) years of clinical experience in an Inpatient or Emergency Department (ED) setting. Previous experience in clinical informatics, HER optimization, or as an Epic Super User is highly preferred.

Licenses & Certification – Course of study or program completed by the incumbent must be approved by a nationally recognized professional medical body, must possess current State of Oklahoma License, and CPR certification.

Knowledge & Skills –

  • Professional knowledge of clinical informatics principles, including the ability to translate complex clinical workflows into technical requirements within the Epic EHR system.

  • Ability to collect, organize, and analyze clinical data to identify gaps in provider efficiency and patient safety.

  • Skill in collaborating with IT technical teams and clinical leadership to meet the needs of clinical teams in Inpatient, Outpatient, ED, Specialties, Therapies settings.

  • Ability to provide "at-the-elbow" support and formal training to providers during onboarding and system upgrades.

  • Expertise in Inpatient or ED clinical processes, including triage, acute care management, and discharge planning.

  • Advanced communication skills to serve as a liaison between the medical staff and Information Technology departments.

JOB SUMMARY

The purpose of this position is to serve as a Provider Informaticist, integrating clinical expertise with information technology to enhance the delivery of care at the Muscogee (Creek) Nation Department of Health. The incumbent acts as a primary liaison for providers to optimize EHR workflows, driving efficiency and quality in the Inpatient and ED environments. Incumbent operates under the direct supervision of the Clinical Director of Informatics. This is an exempt position as applicable to the provisions of the FLSA.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work is performed in an ambulatory and inpatient health care setting. There is common exposure to infectious and communicable diseases, potentially hazardous chemicals, and biohazardous materials. The work may include a certain amount of exposure to hostile and/or emotionally disturbed patients, families, and visitors. Must be aware of all risks involved and be willing to take precautions as requested and required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Work requires considerable walking between clinical units, exam rooms, and IT training areas, as well as long periods of moving about the work unit. The role requires the ability to spend extended periods at a computer workstation for analytical tasks.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Satisfactory job performance will be determined by successful execution of the following:

  • Serve as a primary clinical expert for Epic EHR optimization and provider workflow efficiency.

  • Analyze, design, and validate clinical content including order sets, ClinDoc templates, and SmartForms

  • Lead provider engagement initiatives to increase the adoption of new technologies and digital tools.

  • Collaborate with the IT department to troubleshoot and resolve clinical system issues affecting the Inpatient and ED staff.

  • Provide formal informatics training and orientation for new providers

  • Participate in Clinic CQI programs and perform informatics-based CQI activities to improve patient outcomes.

  • Maintain clear and accurate records of system changes, user feedback, and project milestones.

  • Regular attendance is required (Full-time on-site, 40 hours per week)

  • Performs other duties as required.
