PSX Research / Investment Analyst

We are seeking a highly analytical and driven PSX Equity Research / Investment Analyst to join our investment team. The role is focused on fundamental equity research, financial modeling, valuation, and sector analysis with primary coverage across Energy, Cement, and related industries. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in Pakistan’s capital markets, the ability to build models from scratch, and the confidence to present investment ideas to senior decision-makers.

Key Responsibilities

Research & Investment Analysis

• Build and maintain full 3-statement financial models (P&L, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow) with integrated DCF, EV/EBITDA, and Dividend Discount valuations for covered companies.
• Initiate and maintain coverage on 8–12 PSX-listed companies across Energy, Cement, and adjacent sectors within the first 90 days.
• Prepare formal written investment memos for every new recommendation, including investment thesis, valuation, catalysts, risks, and kill conditions.
• Track earnings releases, regulatory filings, and corporate announcements, and update financial models within 48 hours of disclosures.
• Conduct independent channel checks by engaging with industry contacts, distributors, contractors, and suppliers to validate market trends ahead of official company disclosures.

Macro & Sector Monitoring

• Maintain a weekly macro dashboard tracking SBP policy rate, PKR/USD movement, CPI, FIPI flows, IMF programme developments, and relevant global commodity prices.
• Produce concise weekly sector briefings every Monday covering key macro developments, sector news, and portfolio implications.
• Monitor China’s industrial activity indicators (PMI, coal output, steel production) as leading indicators for Pakistan’s energy and construction cycles.

Investment Committee & Process

• Present new investment ideas at weekly Investment Committee meetings with full supporting analysis.
• Maintain and update the firm’s investment pipeline, including watchlists, valuation entry points, and catalyst calendars.
• Support portfolio risk monitoring through concentration analysis, correlation reviews, and monthly liquidity stress testing.
• Assist in preparing quarterly investor reports and NAV performance attribution once the private fund becomes operational.

Requirements

• Education: MBA Finance or CFA Level II minimum. CFA Charterholder is strongly preferred.
• Experience: 3–6 years of Pakistan equity research experience at a PSX brokerage research desk or asset management company.
• Prior coverage of the Energy (E&P, OMCs, Refineries) or Cement sector on PSX is mandatory.
• Must be able to build a complete 3-statement model and DCF from scratch within a timed test environment.
• Strong written and spoken English for investment memos and presentations; Urdu proficiency for field research and channel checks.
• Must be based in Lahore or willing to relocate immediately. No remote or hybrid arrangement.
