Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (1099 Position) in New Hampshire

My Mental Health Matters Psychiatric Services is currently seeking a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) to join our team as a 1099 contractor. The position requires a commitment of 24 to 40 patient visits per week. We are looking for candidates who have experience or have a strong interest in working with adolescent and adult patients in the state of New Hampshire. We also welcome new graduates and are happy to provide training and support.

Who we’re looking for: We’re seeking a compassionate and dedicated Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) to provide outpatient medication management with supportive therapy. Required Requirements:

  • MSN (Master of Science in Nursing) or DNP (Doctor of Nursing Practice) Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) with a current and active unencumbered license in the state of New Hampshire
  • Must have a current ANCC certification
  • Must have an Individual NPI
  • Must have a valid and active DEA number in New Hampshire
  • Must have a strong knowledge of psychopharmacology
  • Must have a reliable computer, internet connection, webcam, and a quiet working environment

Responsibilities:

  • Conducting psychiatric evaluations and assessments to diagnose mental health conditions
  • Providing mental health assessments and interventions
  • Implementing evidence-based and individualized treatment plans, including psychotropic medications and psychotherapy for patients with depression, anxiety, trauma, or life adjustment stress
  • Monitoring and evaluating patients' progress, adjusting treatment plans as necessary
  • Providing education to patients about mental health conditions, treatment options, and self-care strategies
  • Collaborating with the healthcare team (other providers or therapists) to ensure holistic patient care
  • Utilizing telehealth platforms for virtual consultations and follow-ups
  • Accurate and complete documentation that is in accordance with Federal, State, and practice guidelines using our EHR system within 48 hours of patient encounter to ensure timely and accurate charting.
  • Perform MassPAT (Massachusetts Prescription Awareness Tool) lookups and document results prior to prescribing any benzodiazepines or controlled substances.
  • Document all clinically significant communications, including patient phone calls, emails, pharmacy inquiries, and provider consultations, in the electronic health record (EHR); bill appropriately when applicable.

What your day will look like:

We welcome new graduates to apply! You’ll have the opportunity to learn directly from an experienced and qualified mental health nurse practitioner.

  • We will gradually (and quickly) fill up your schedule with primarily patients seeking initial evaluations to establish care with a provider (yourself) for psychiatric medication management.
  • Initial evaluations with new patients are 60 to 90 minutes. It will cover all of your typical initial evaluation points, including collecting psych and medical history, family and social history, exploring all of the symptoms the patient is currently struggling with, and ultimately creating a treatment plan that includes diagnosis, medication management, and appropriate lifestyle modification goals.
  • Once the patient is established, follow-up medication management visits are 30 to 45-minute visits. We value slightly longer visits with the patient for follow-up so therapeutic conversation can take place, and it doesn't feel like just a rushed prescription.
