Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner

Job Summary
Seeking a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) to join our small, but growing family behavioral health practice servicing Sussex County, NJ. Must have experience working with children and neurodiverse people. Must pass a background check. Offering part-time with the flexibility to make your own schedule. Must be able to work in a hybrid setting (telehealth to start, but able to offer in-person appointments within 90 days of employment).

Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations, including patient history, mental status examinations, and risk assessments.
• Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications with careful attention to medication interactions and side effects.
• Develop personalized treatment plans incorporating psychotherapy, medication management, and other therapeutic modalities.
• Collaborate with clinical team to coordinate patient care.
• Utilize electronic health record (EHR) system (SimplePractice) for accurate documentation and medical records management.
• Provide patient education on mental health conditions, medication adherence, and coping strategies.

Preferred Experience

• Demonstrated experience with children and neurodiverse people.
• Experience with trauma-informed care.
• Knowledge of psychopharmacology principles, CPT coding for billing purposes, and HIPAA compliance standards.
• Ability to work independently--you will be responsible for making your own schedule and submitting your own insurance claims

Mandatory Requirements

• Valid RN license and APN certification via the NJ Board of Nursing
• Board certification as a PMHNP via the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC)
• Valid NJ CDS registration and DEA certification
• (As of April 2, 2026) Must have 5,000 hours of licensed, active, advanced nursing practice in a behavioral health role to prescribe without a joint protocol with a collaborating physician. If <5,000 hours, MUST have a documented joint protocol with a collaborating physician who is licensed in NJ.

Pay: $75,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
