Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner

Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP), where you will play a vital role in delivering comprehensive mental health services to diverse patient populations. This energetic position offers the opportunity to assess, diagnose, and treat individuals experiencing a wide range of psychiatric conditions, utilizing advanced clinical skills and evidence-based practices. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to promote mental wellness, provide medication management, and support patients through their recovery journeys in various settings including outpatient clinics, inpatient units, and telehealth platforms.

Duties

  • Conduct thorough psychiatric assessments, including patient history, mental status examinations, and physiological evaluations to inform diagnosis and treatment plans.
  • Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications, ensuring appropriate dosages and monitoring for efficacy and side effects.
  • Provide psychotherapy and counseling tailored to individual needs, incorporating behavioral health interventions and psychoeducation.
  • Collaborate with physicians, social workers, case managers, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate holistic patient care.
  • Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or eClinicalWorks for accurate medical documentation and compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Engage in telehealth consultations to expand access to mental health services across diverse geographic locations.
  • Participate in clinical research initiatives or quality improvement projects aimed at enhancing mental health care delivery.

Requirements

  • Valid state licensure as a Nurse Practitioner with certification in Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing (PMHNP-BC or equivalent).
  • Proven experience in behavioral health settings, including outpatient clinics, hospitals, or assisted living facilities.
  • Strong knowledge of psychopharmacology, diagnostic evaluation (ICD-10 coding), and treatment modalities for mental health disorders.
  • Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Cerner, Athenahealth, or similar platforms.
  • Experience working with individuals across the lifespan—including children, geriatrics, and patients with developmental disabilities—preferred.
  • Ability to perform comprehensive patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and medication administration.
  • Excellent communication skills for triage assessments, patient education, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
