Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) to join our multidisciplinary mental health team. Duties
- Conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations, including patient history, mental status examinations, and risk assessments.
- Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications, ensuring safe and effective treatment plans aligned with best practices.
- Provide psychotherapy interventions tailored to individual needs, utilizing evidence-based modalities.
- Collaborate with physicians, social workers, case managers, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate comprehensive patient care.
- Monitor patient progress through regular follow-up appointments, adjusting treatment strategies as necessary.
- Educate patients and families about mental health conditions, medication management, and coping strategies to foster recovery and resilience.
- Document all clinical encounters accurately within electronic health record (EHR) systems while adhering to HIPAA regulations.
Requirements
- Current certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) with valid state licensure.
- DEA Licensure
- Preferably Full Authority Licensure
Skills
- Demonstrated experience in behavioral health settings with exposure to diverse populations including children, geriatrics, or individuals with developmental disabilities.
- Proficiency in EMR/EHR systems for documentation and patient management.
- Knowledge of psychopharmacology principles, medication administration protocols, and medication management strategies.
- Strong assessment skills with the ability to perform physical examinations when necessary; knowledge of vital signs and physiology is essential.
- Experience working in acute care environments such as hospitals or emergency rooms is highly desirable.
