Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner

Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) to join our multidisciplinary healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong clinical background in behavioral health and psychiatric care, with the ability to provide comprehensive mental health services across diverse patient populations. The PMHNP will collaborate closely with physicians, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to optimize mental health outcomes and promote overall wellness.

Duties

• Conduct thorough psychiatric assessments, including patient history, mental status examinations, and diagnostic evaluations using ICD-10 coding standards.
• Develop individualized treatment plans incorporating psychopharmacology, therapy, and other modalities such as Botulinum toxin treatment when appropriate.
• Prescribe medications and monitor their efficacy while managing potential side effects in accordance with HIPAA regulations and clinical guidelines.
• Provide psychotherapy services utilizing evidence-based approaches tailored to each patient's needs, including working with children, geriatrics, or individuals with developmental disabilities.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate care plans, discharge planning, and case management for patients in outpatient, inpatient, or post-acute settings.
• Utilize electronic health record systems such as Epic or eClinicalWorks for accurate documentation of patient interactions and medical records.
• Engage in telehealth consultations to extend mental health services remotely while maintaining compliance with confidentiality standards.
• Participate in clinical research initiatives or quality improvement projects aimed at advancing psychiatric care practices.

Experience

• Proven experience working within behavioral health settings, including hospital medicine, emergency room environments, or outpatient clinics.
• Demonstrated proficiency in medical office procedures such as medication administration, IV infusion, venipuncture, and sterile processing techniques.
• Familiarity with advanced practice nursing roles involving acute pain management, trauma center protocols (Level I/II Trauma Center experience), and ICU or PICU environments is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of ICD-9/ICD-10 coding systems for accurate documentation and billing processes related to psychiatric diagnoses.
• Experience managing complex cases involving substance use disorders, hospice & palliative medicine considerations, or memory care for dementia patients.
• Strong background in utilizing EMR/EHR systems like Cerner or Athenahealth for efficient patient care documentation and data retrieval.
• Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams providing services such as neuropsychiatric assessments, neuroimaging review, or pharmacological interventions like dermal fillers or esthetic laser treatments when applicable.
