Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner

Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) to join our multidisciplinary healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong clinical background in behavioral health and psychiatric care, with the ability to provide comprehensive mental health services across diverse patient populations. This role offers an opportunity to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care in a dynamic environment, utilizing advanced nursing practices and evidence-based interventions. The PMHNP will collaborate closely with physicians, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to optimize mental health outcomes and promote overall wellness.

Duties

  • Conduct thorough psychiatric assessments, including patient history, mental status examinations, and diagnostic evaluations using ICD-10 coding standards.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans incorporating psychopharmacology, therapy, and other modalities such as Botulinum toxin treatment when appropriate.
  • Prescribe medications and monitor their efficacy while managing potential side effects in accordance with HIPAA regulations and clinical guidelines.
  • Provide psychotherapy services utilizing evidence-based approaches tailored to each patient's needs, including working with children, geriatrics, or individuals with developmental disabilities.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate care plans, discharge planning, and case management for patients in outpatient, inpatient, or post-acute settings.
  • Utilize electronic health record systems such as Epic or eClinicalWorks for accurate documentation of patient interactions and medical records.
  • Engage in telehealth consultations to extend mental health services remotely while maintaining compliance with confidentiality standards.
  • Participate in clinical research initiatives or quality improvement projects aimed at advancing psychiatric care practices.

Experience

  • Proven experience working within behavioral health settings, including hospital medicine, emergency room environments, or outpatient clinics.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in medical office procedures such as medication administration, IV infusion, venipuncture, and sterile processing techniques.
  • Familiarity with advanced practice nursing roles involving acute pain management, trauma center protocols (Level I/II Trauma Center experience), and ICU or PICU environments is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of ICD-9/ICD-10 coding systems for accurate documentation and billing processes related to psychiatric diagnoses.
  • Experience managing complex cases involving substance use disorders, hospice & palliative medicine considerations, or memory care for dementia patients.
  • Strong background in utilizing EMR/EHR systems like Cerner or Athenahealth for efficient patient care documentation and data retrieval.
  • Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams providing services such as neuropsychiatric assessments, neuroimaging review, or pharmacological interventions like dermal fillers or esthetic laser treatments when applicable.   • Master's (Preferred)

Experience:

  • Medication Management : 2 years (Preferred)
  • Psychiatric NP: 2 years (Preferred)
