PSYCHIATRIC MENTAL HEALTH NURSE PRACTITIONER

St. Louis Forensic Treatment Center provides specialized rehabilitative care for adults diagnosed with mental illness. We are looking for a positive and energetic Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner licensed in Missouri to join our team of dedicated providers that offer exceptional services in a long-term psychiatric setting.

Job Description:

The PMHNP will be responsible for maintaining a caseload of approximately 10 patients as part of the Competency Restoration Program. Responsibilities include: Evaluation/diagnosis/treatment of serious mental illness, psychiatric medication management, coordination with internal medicine provider to care for medical issues, and collaboration with interdisciplinary team members in the goal of helping a patient become competent to stand trial.

Responsibilities - What you’ll do
  • Provide psychiatry support for patients experiencing behavioral health concerns, including initial assessments and ongoing management.
  • Collaborate with on-call psychiatrists and facility staff to ensure timely and appropriate mental health care for patients
  • Deliver comprehensive clinical care through an interdisciplinary treatment team and consultations
  • Educate patients on suitable treatments and personalized care plans for their specific health needs.
  • Oversee patient follow-ups for ongoing care programs, ensuring continuity and effectiveness of treatment.
  • Prescribe medication
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals and treatment team to provide excellent patient care.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records.
Qualifications - All you need for success
  • Must have a Missouri state PMHNP license
  • Must have 1 year or more of psychiatric experience as a PMHNP
  • Comfortable caring for complex patients.
  • Strong assessment and communication skills.
  • Knowledge in medication management and de-escalation.
  • Experience with providing care in acute care conditions such schizophrenia and bipolar disorder

License/Certification:

  • PMHNP (Required)
  • DEA License (Required)
