Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP)--1099 positon

This is a part time independent contractor position. The work schedule will be 6-8 hours per week, 1 day per week. It is paid as fee for service. The hourly range of pay included in this post is just to give you an estimated idea of what you could make.

At King Health Systems our goal is to provide individualized mental health care to individuals and families in need. We provide outpatient mental health services, psychiatric rehabilitation services, and medication management to clients in the West Baltimore Area. Our clients often have co-occurring substance abuse disorders and are receiving PRP services to support their activities of daily living.

Location: OMHC - 3502 W Rogers Ave, Baltimore MD, 21215.

Job Requirements:

  • Valid professional license - PMHNP-BC (Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner—Board Certified) CRNP-PMH
  • Valid DEA License/Controlled Substance Registration
  • Must pass state and federal background check

Position Summary

Provide continuous and comprehensive services necessary for the promotion of optimal mental health, prevention and treatment of psychiatric disorders and health maintenance. In an Outpatient Mental Health Clinic. This includes the assessment, diagnosis, and management of mental health problems and psychiatric disorders. The PNP works collaboratively with other on site medical and mental health providers as well as with the community.

Supervision

Reports directly to Medical Director/ Program Director. Medical oversight provided through practice agreement with collaborating Physician/Psychiatrist / Program Director.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides education and counsel appropriate to the medical needs of the patient while using our virtual care technology (Lightning Step).
  • Maintains current licensure and continuing medical education credits as required by Maryland State Law.
  • Order and interpret basic laboratory tests and diagnostic procedures, and write prescriptions/order medications
  • Patient Care Management/Documentation
  • Work collaboratively with a physician and/or mental health provider
  • Thorough patient evaluation determines a differential diagnosis and plan for intervention.
  • Adhere to standards via office practice standard protocols.
  • Maintains a customer-oriented approach to meeting patient needs in an expedient manner, involving the family in the plan of care as appropriate.
  • Maintain confidentiality and patient privacy.
  • Document care provided; meeting standards for quarterly chart reviews. Consultation and Referral
  • Communicates treatment / therapy progress with individuals who have the responsibility or control in patient care intervention.
  • Refers patients to appropriate licensed physician or other health care provider as condition or circumstances warrant.
  • Performs duties in accordance with established routine procedures as set forth by the State of Maryland, BPQA (Board of Physicians Quality Assurance), AMA (American Medical Association), HCFA, and AAMC policies.

Consultation & Referral

  • Seek consultations as appropriate, act as a consultant as requested.
  • Facilitate the process of ethical decision making as appropriate.
  • Perform comprehensive assessments and refer patients for further care and services within the larger community.

Patient Education

  • Utilize teaching learning theory with patients and their families to influence patient outcomes.
  • Identify learning needs of various populations and contribute to the development of educational programs to meet those needs.
  • Provide a site for student education as requested.

Communication/Citizenship

  • Identify system specific problems, which require evaluation and/or change; work with appropriate staff to resolve these issues by participating in performance improvement processes.
  • Takes an active role to contribute to the improvement of office functioning.

  • Ability to function independently with regards to most clinical decision making.
  • Ability to relate well with children, teens and adults.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • License to prescribe controlled substances.
  • Knowledge of specific health care issues pertaining to drug and alcohol abusers.
  • Knowledge of current relevant advanced nursing practice issues and standards.
  • Knowledge of record keeping requirements, as well as other regulations of entities having responsibility for licensing, approving, and credentialing the program served.
  • Knowledge of physical and mental health issues of the subculture served.
  • Knowledge and skills relevant to the area of advanced nursing practice.
  • Knowledge of the specialized population/area of service.
  • Knowledge of the external network of resources needed.
  • Ability to perform highly specialized and advanced nursing assessment and practice.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective professional working relationships within and outside of the agency.
  • Ability to exercise professional judgment at the level of clinical excellence and advanced practice.
  • Ability to assess and develop educational programs for the needs of clients and staff.

Education/experienced required
Masters prepared Nurse Practitioner in Psychiatry with 2 or more years’ experience working with children, teens and adults in a primary care setting.

  • Master’s Degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program.
  • Two (2) years of related clinical experience as a Nurse Practitioner.
  • Three (3) years’ experience in Primary Care or Urgent Care preferred.

Job Types: Part-time, Contract

Pay: $95.00 - $105.00 per hour
