Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP)

Duties

  • Conduct thorough psychiatric assessments, including patient history, mental status examinations, and diagnostic evaluations using ICD-10 coding standards.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans incorporating psychopharmacology, therapy modalities, and lifestyle modifications.
  • Prescribe and monitor medications such as antidepressants, antipsychotics, mood stabilizers, and botulinum toxin treatments when appropriate.
  • Provide crisis intervention and acute care management for patients experiencing psychiatric emergencies or severe behavioral health episodes.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate care for patients in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, hospitals, or outpatient clinics.
  • Utilize EMR systems like Epic or eClinicalWorks to document patient encounters accurately while maintaining HIPAA compliance.
  • Engage in telehealth services to expand access to mental health care across geographic locations and diverse populations.
  • Participate in clinical research initiatives related to behavioral health, neuropsychiatric disorders, or innovative treatment approaches such as dermal fillers or esthetic laser treatments when applicable.

Skills

  • Proven experience with EMR/EHR systems .
  • Strong knowledge of psychopharmacology principles and medication administration protocols.
  • Familiarity with ICD-9/10 coding for accurate diagnosis documentation and billing processes.
  • Ability to perform comprehensive physical examinations and vital signs assessment in psychiatric settings.
  • Skilled in patient assessment techniques including mental status exams, physiological evaluations, and risk assessments.
  • Experience working with diverse populations including children, geriatrics, individuals with developmental disabilities or dementia care needs.
  • Competent in crisis triage, acute pain management strategies, and behavioral health interventions within emergency room or inpatient environments.
  • Knowledge of infection control practices and sterile techniques relevant to medication injections such as dermal fillers or botulinum toxin treatments.

Pay: $100,000.00 - $200,000.00 per year
