Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner to join our healthcare team. As a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, you will provide comprehensive mental health care to patients of all ages. Your primary focus will be on diagnosing and treating mental health disorders, prescribing medications, and implementing therapeutic interventions.
Compensation: 1099 /Fee for Service
Responsibilities
- Conduct psychiatric evaluations and assessments
- Develop and implement treatment plans for patients with mental health disorders
- Prescribe medications and monitor their effectiveness
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to provide holistic patient care
- Educate patients and families on mental health conditions and treatment options
- Perform physical examinations and specimen collection processing as needed
- Conduct psychiatric evaluations and assessments to determine the mental health needs of patients
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on patient assessments
- Prescribe and manage appropriate medications for patients with mental health disorders
- Provide counseling and therapy to patients to address emotional, behavioral, and psychological issues
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care and ensure holistic treatment approaches
- Monitor patient progress and make adjustments to treatment plans as needed
- Educate patients and their families about mental health conditions, treatment options, and self-care strategies
Experience:
- Acute care experience in a psychiatric setting is a plus
- Strong knowledge of psychiatric disorders, assessment tools, and evidence-based treatment modalities
- Proficiency in medication administration and management for mental health conditions
- Experience working with diverse patient populations, including those with co-occurring disorders or complex medical needs
- Familiarity with medical imaging techniques used in psychiatric evaluation
- Knowledge of dementia care principles and interventions for patients with cognitive impairments
- Understanding of workers' compensation laws related to mental health claims
- Familiarity with family planning services and reproductive healthcare for individuals with mental health conditions
- Knowledge of ophthalmology principles as they relate to mental health assessment (e.g., visual hallucinations)
Qualifications
- Master's or Doctorate degree in Nursing with a specialization in psychiatric-mental health
- Current Nurse Practitioner license with psychiatric-mental health certification
- Knowledge of Icanotes or similar electronic medical record systems
- Strong understanding of physiology and medical office procedures
