Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner-Virginia

Duties and Responsibilities

• Patient Assessment and Diagnosis
• Conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations, obtain detailed patient histories, and perform mental status examinations to formulate accurate diagnoses.
• Treatment Planning and Management:
• Develop individualized treatment plans using psychopharmacology, and other modalities. Monitor and adjust medications as needed.
• Medication Management:
• Prescribe, administer, and monitor psychiatric medications. Educate patients and families about medication effects, side effects, and adherence.
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation
• Educate patients and families about mental health conditions, treatment options, self-management strategies, and preventive care.

Skills and other functions:

1. Work effectively within a multidisciplinary team and provide clinical formulations that clearly direct treatment considerations and focus

2. Attend and participate in staff meetings, clinical treatment meetings and skills trainings/updates.

3. Complete other assignments and tasks as directed by the Clinical Director

Qualifications:

• Master's or Doctoral degree in Nursing from an accredited institution, with a focus on psychiatric/mental health nursing.
• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license and certification as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) in the practicing state.
• Prior clinical experience in psychiatric or mental health settings preferred; experience in private practice is an asset.
• Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic, and treatment planning skills; proficiency in psychopharmacology and psychotherapy; excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Commitment to ethical practice, ongoing professional development, and compliance with state and federal regulations.

Job Type: Contract

Pay: Up to $100,000.00 per year
