Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner

Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations, including patient history, mental status examinations, and diagnostic assessments using clinical knowledge and EMR (Electronic Medical Record) systems.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans that may include medication management, psychotherapy, and behavioral health interventions.
• Administer medications with expertise in psychopharmacology, ensuring proper dosage, monitoring for side effects, and adjusting treatments as necessary.
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists, case managers, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care across inpatient, outpatient, telehealth, and community-based settings.
• Provide patient education on mental health conditions, medication adherence, lifestyle modifications, and coping strategies to support recovery and wellness.
• Document all clinical encounters accurately in medical records while maintaining compliance with HIPAA regulations.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives such as utilization review

Experience

• Proven experience as a Nurse Practitioner specializing in psychiatry or behavioral health with a strong background in behavioral health space specifically SUD
• Demonstrated proficiency with EMR/EHR systems telehealth experience is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of psychopharmacology including CPT coding for billing purposes; experience administering injections or IV infusions is a plus.
• Familiarity with outpatient clinics, PHP and IOP programs.
  
• Strong understanding of medical terminology, physiology knowledge, diagnostic evaluation techniques like sonography or spinal tap procedures are advantageous.
