Job Overview
The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner works collaboratively with the Psychiatrist/ Medical Director to provide client assessment and diagnosis, formulate treatment plans, prescribe medications, order laboratory tests, interpret test results, provide client education, and prepare medical records for Mental Health Treatment outpatient services. The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner works under the supervision of the Psychiatrist/ Medical Director and the Program Director.
DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES, & ESSENTIAL JOB
· Conduct psychiatric evaluations and assessments to determine clients' mental health needs.
· Prescribe and monitor psychotropic medications for clients.
· Collaborate with the clinical team to develop and implement treatment plans that address both substance use and mental health disorders.
· Provide education and support to clients and their families regarding medication management and mental health concerns.
· Document all client interactions and maintain accurate and up-to-date client records.
· Ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations, including HIPAA.
· Orders laboratory tests, interprets and explains the test results to patients.
· May also provide primary medical care services as indicated, in accordance with statues, regulations and protocols regulating the profession.
· Performs similar or related duties as assigned or required.
