About the Opportunity
Our inpatient psychiatric hospital is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Psychiatric Physician to join our multidisciplinary treatment team. As a Baker Act–receiving facility, we provide crisis stabilization, acute psychiatric care, and comprehensive treatment for adults experiencing mental health emergencies. Key Responsibilities
- Provide psychiatric evaluations, diagnostic assessments, and ongoing inpatient medication management.
- Serve as the admitting and treating physician for individuals placed under the Florida Baker Act and voluntary patients.
- Develop individualized treatment plans in collaboration with nursing, social work, therapy, and case management teams.
- Conduct daily patient rounds and ensure appropriate clinical documentation according to regulatory standards.
- Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings, treatment planning discussions, and discharge planning.
- Assess risk, safety, and readiness for discharge while ensuring compliance with Baker Act requirements.
- Provide crisis intervention and stabilization in collaboration with clinical staff.
- Maintain compliance with hospital policies, state and federal regulations, and best practices in psychiatric care.
Qualifications
- MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.
- Completion of an ACGME-accredited Psychiatry residency.
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry.
- Active Florida medical license (or ability to obtain prior to start).
- Experience in inpatient or crisis-stabilization settings preferred.
- Familiarity with Baker Act protocols, involuntary holds, and psychiatric care.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and clinical decision-making skills.
Schedule & Work Environment
- Full-time inpatient schedule (M–F or block schedule options available).
- Shared or dedicated on-call responsibilities (flexible based on candidate preference).
- Support from psychiatric nurse practitioners, therapists, social workers, and medical staff.
