Who we are looking for

Sugar Land Psychological Associates, a private practice dedicated to delivering high-quality, compassionate mental health care, is seeking a Psychiatrist to join our growing team. This position offers flexibility in scheduling, with options for in-person services at our Sugar Land office, telepsychiatry across Texas, or a hybrid model tailored to your preferences.

The ideal candidate will provide psychiatric evaluations, diagnosis, and medication management for adults (and optionally adolescents) as part of a care team of psychologists. Our collaborative environment fosters coordinated care, with a steady referral stream, strong administrative support, and opportunities for professional growth. This is a 1099 independent contractor position with the potential for long-term partnership and leadership opportunities as our medical services expand.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and medication management for clients within your area of expertise.
  • Collaborate closely with psychologists, therapists, and other clinicians to ensure integrated, coordinated treatment planning.
  • Conduct periodic follow-ups and treatment reviews to monitor progress and adjust medications as clinically indicated.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant clinical documentation in the practice’s electronic health record (EHR).
  • Adhere to all ethical, legal, and professional standards, as well as state and federal regulations.
  • Participate in case consultations, peer review, and optional multidisciplinary team meetings.
  • Provide telepsychiatry services via secure, HIPAA-compliant platforms when working remotely.
  • Contribute to the practice’s mission of providing evidence-based, patient-centered care across diverse populations.

Required Qualifications

  • M.D. or D.O. degree from an accredited medical school.
  • Completion of a residency in Psychiatry.
  • Active, unrestricted Texas medical license (or eligibility to obtain).
  • Board certification or eligibility in Psychiatry.
  • Demonstrated experience providing outpatient psychiatric care, including medication management.
  • Strong clinical judgment, diagnostic acumen, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Comfort with telepsychiatry and electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Commitment to culturally competent, trauma-informed, and ethical psychiatric practice.
  • Professional liability insurance (or willingness to obtain prior to start date).

Preferred Qualification(s)

  • Experience working collaboratively within private practice or integrated care settings.
  • Interest in working with forensic, occupational, or law enforcement populations.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Contract

Pay: $180.00 - $210.00 per hour
