Psychiatrist (MD/DO)

Position Summary
The Psychiatrist provides comprehensive psychiatric care including evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of mental health conditions across the lifespan. This role is central to EPIC Health’s integrated care model, working closely with primary care, behavioral health, and specialty teams to deliver whole-person, evidence-based care.
The Psychiatrist will manage complex cases, oversee medication management, and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to improve outcomes, access, and continuity of care.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Care

Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and diagnostic assessments.

Diagnose and treat a wide range of psychiatric conditions, including mood disorders, anxiety disorders, psychotic disorders, ADHD, PTSD, and substance use disorders.

Develop and manage treatment plans, including psychopharmacology and coordination with psychotherapy services.

Provide medication management and monitor treatment effectiveness and side effects.

Deliver patient and family education regarding diagnoses, treatment options, and medications.
Care Coordination & Integration

Collaborate with primary care providers, psychiatry nurse practitioners, therapists, and care coordinators.

Participate in multidisciplinary case conferences and treatment planning.

Support integrated behavioral health workflows within primary care and specialty settings.
Clinical Leadership & Quality

Provide clinical oversight and consultation to PMHNPs and behavioral health staff as appropriate.

Participate in quality improvement initiatives and clinical protocol development.

Ensure compliance with regulatory, ethical, and organizational standards of care.
Documentation & Compliance

Maintain timely, accurate documentation in the EHR.

Comply with state and federal regulations, including controlled substance prescribing requirements.
Qualifications
Required
-
MD or DO from an accredited medical school.

Completion of an accredited Psychiatry residency program.

Board-certified or board-eligible in Psychiatry.

Active and unrestricted Michigan medical license.

DEA license (or ability to obtain).

Strong clinical judgment and communication skills.
Preferred

Experience in outpatient psychiatry, integrated care, or community mental health.
