We are seeking an Adult Psychiatrist to join our team at the Mental Health Center (MHC). The Adult Psychiatrist will lead, support, and represent the provider team and provide outpatient psychiatric evaluation and ongoing treatment services for a large and diverse population in Minneapolis and surrounding Hennepin County communities.

Location and hours:
This position is located at the Mental Health Center, located in the South Hennepin County Human Service Center at 2215 East Lake Street, Minneapolis, MN 55407, and other clinical sites as needed. Typical work hours are between 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday; some evening hours are also possible. No weekend, overnight, or holiday shifts are required. New Employee Orientation (NEO) for all new benefit-earning employees is in-person in downtown Minneapolis. Details about NEO will be provided upon hire.
About the position type:
This position is benefit-earning and offers a range between .6 (24 hours per week) to 1.0 (40 hours per week) full-time equivalent, based on interest and availability. This position is internally classified as a Psychiatrist. Click here to view the job classification specification.

In this position you will:-
Provide ongoing assessment and treatment to adults with mental illness, especially those with serious and persistent mental illness and persons with co-occurring substance use disorders (SUD).

Perform medication evaluation and prescribe medications as indicated for psychiatric and/or SUD, including Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT).

Provide psychiatric consultation/care coordination to other providers as needed.

Document all interactions and findings in electronic health records in a timely and accurate manner according to MHC standards and workflows.

Function as part of a multidisciplinary team for care delivery and in support of the MHC's goals and mission.

Participate in quality improvement efforts aimed at equity and disparity elimination.
Need to have:-
Graduated from an accredited school of medicine with an M.D. degree; a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine.

Completion of an approved internship and formal residency.

Possession of a valid license to practice medicine issued by the State of Minnesota and eligibility for board certification in psychiatry.

Experience:

Working in a psychiatric/mental health setting within the last five years.

With EPIC or another similar electronic health record system.

Working in a community mental health clinic, with safety net populations, and/or Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) clinic.

Working directly with marginalized communities of color (i.e., Native American and African American) in Child Protection or Juvenile Justice.

Knowledge and demonstrated ability to examine and directly address the impacts of structural and institutional racism and successfully apply diversity, equity, and inclusion best practices to reduce disparities.

The MHC’s team of support and provider professionals provides comprehensive outpatient behavioral health services to adults with serious mental illness as well as those with co-occurring substance use disorders. Additionally, the Center services children, youth, and families, many of whom are involved with Child Protection or Juvenile Justice.
