Psychiatry Nurse Practitioner

Job Overview
Private Practice is seeking a Psychiatry Nurse Practitioner to join our multidisciplinary mental health team. Services are primarily via telehealth; however, on occasion, a client may need to be seen in person if they are prescribed injectable medication.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct psychiatric evaluations, including patient history, mental status examinations, and risk assessments.
  • Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications in accordance with clinical guidelines and regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate with psychologists, social workers, and primary care providers to coordinate patient care plans.
  • Monitor patient progress through regular follow-ups, adjusting treatment strategies as necessary.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed medical documentation within electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Provide psychotherapy sessions utilizing evidence-based approaches tailored to individual needs (optional).

Experience

  • Active Nurse Practitioner license with certification in Psychiatry or Mental Health Nursing.
  • Knowledge of psychopharmacology, including medication administration and monitoring for side effects.
  • Background in behavioral health and crisis intervention.
  • Experience working with diverse populations in outpatient or community settings.
  • Familiarity with telehealth platforms and remote patient management tools.
  • Experience with EMR/EHR systems for efficient documentation and case management (training is provided).
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations and confidentiality standards.
