As a Psychiatric & Wellness Nurse Practitioner, you’ll play a central role in shaping patient outcomes, guiding care, and helping individuals move toward healthier, more stable lives.

In this role, you’re more than a provider—you’re a key clinical leader.

You bring both clinical expertise and a human-centered approach to care, balancing structure with empathy. You’re comfortable working across programs, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team, and using data and tools to support better patient outcomes.

You’ll manage a consistent caseload, oversee medication and wellness planning, and help ensure our programs run smoothly and effectively. You’re adaptable, solutions-oriented, and energized by working in an environment that values both results and culture.

Role Overview

This is a part-time position supporting our PHP 2.5 and IOP 3.1 programs. You will manage a caseload of approximately 30–40 patients, providing psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and ongoing wellness support.

This role includes oversight of Quickmar and use of Kipu software for clinical documentation and patient management (training provided).

What You’ll Do

  • Provide comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and follow-up care
  • Diagnose and manage mental health conditions across patient populations
  • Prescribe and monitor psychiatric medications
  • Oversee and support operations within PHP 2.5 and IOP 3.1 programs
  • Supervise and ensure proper use of Quickmar
  • Utilize Kipu software for documentation and care coordination (training provided)
  • Collaborate with clinicians, staff, and leadership to improve patient outcomes
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant clinical records

What You Bring

  • Active Nurse Practitioner license in Virginia (PMHNP preferred)
  • Experience in behavioral health, substance use, or outpatient care settings
  • Ability to manage a caseload of 30–40 patients effectively
  • Strong clinical judgment and decision-making skills
  • Comfort working with clinical systems and willingness to learn Kipu software
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills

Compensation

The annual compensation for this part-time position depending on experience, schedule, and qualifications.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough patient assessments, including vital signs, mental status examinations, and behavioral observations to determine treatment needs.
  • Administer medications and monitor responses in accordance with physician orders and hospital protocols, ensuring patient safety at all times.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans tailored to each patient's unique needs.
  • Manage acute psychiatric episodes by providing crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques in high-pressure situations.
  • Document all patient interactions accurately in medical records while maintaining strict compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality.
  • Coordinate discharge planning and case management efforts to facilitate smooth transitions from inpatient to outpatient or post-acute care settings.
  • Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives related to behavioral health, hospital medicine, and emergency room protocols.

Skills

  • Strong knowledge of physiology, medical terminology, and diagnostic evaluation methods relevant to psychiatric nursing.
  • Skilled in patient service delivery within hospital medicine, behavioral health units, or outpatient clinics.
  • Familiarity with infectious disease care, geriatrics, pediatrics (PICU), and post-acute care practices.
  • Expertise in intake procedures, vital signs monitoring, and utilization management to optimize patient outcomes.
  • Ability to perform comprehensive patient assessment and case management within medical-surgical or inpatient settings.
