Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough psychiatric assessments and develop individualized treatment plans for patients across diverse age groups, including children, adults, and seniors.
  • Administer medications and monitor therapeutic responses, including psychopharmacology and injections such as botulinum toxin treatments when appropriate.
  • Provide crisis intervention and triage services, ensuring prompt response to urgent mental health needs within the home environment.
  • Educate patients and families on mental health conditions, medication adherence, and coping strategies to promote recovery and resilience.
  • Maintain detailed medical documentation using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Epic or eClinicalWorks, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Coordinate with primary care providers, specialists, and case managers to optimize patient outcomes through integrated care approaches.
  • Utilize telehealth platforms for follow-up visits and consultations when applicable, ensuring seamless continuity of care.

Requirements

  • Valid Nurse Practitioner license with certification in psychiatric or mental health nursing.
  • Proven experience in behavioral health, including working with individuals with developmental disabilities or dementia care is highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of psychopharmacology, ICD coding (ICD-10), CPT coding, and medical documentation standards.
  • Experience with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, or Athenahealth for accurate record keeping.
  • Ability to perform physical examinations, administer injections, and manage acute pain or psychiatric crises effectively.
  • Critical care experience or hospital medicine background preferred; familiarity with trauma centers or emergency medicine is a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills for patient education and interdisciplinary collaboration; comfort working independently in a mobile setting.
  • Knowledge of infection control practices, sterile techniques, and safety protocols for home visits.
