P/T Art Teacher for After School Art Classes at Independent Schools

Little Yellow House Art (LYHA) was founded as an Art Enrichment Program that fosters appreciation for art through interactive art classes. For the last 10 years, we have partnered with community organizations and independent schools, to offer robust after-school art programs that encourage a love of learning through creating, questioning, and fun.

Little Yellow House Art is looking for a part-time Art Teacher to join our team! This position begins in January, 2026 teaching our Ceramics program at our West Hollywood location.

Must have classroom art teaching experience and a reliable automobile during the school year.

Position Details:

- Tuesdays (2:30pm - 5:00pm)

- Thursdays (2:30pm - 5:00/5:30pm)

This position has you teaching ceramics Tuesdays at our Van Nuys elementary school location and Wednedays at our West Hollywood elementary school location (2 days per week)

School-Year Commitment: January 2026 - June 2026, with the opportunity to extend.

Ideal candidates should be honest, kind, dependable and ENJOY working with children in a classroom setting. LYHA's goal is to provide high quality and reliable art instruction to the after school programs of independent schools across Los Angeles. Our teachers are responsible for implementing LYHA's curriculum into 60 minute block settings in a classroom provided by our school accounts. Class size does not exceed 1:14 students.

Responsibilities Include:

- Teaching & Classroom Management:

• Lead engaging and age-appropriate art lessons in ceramics
• Demonstrate proper use of tools and materials, ensuring safety at all times
• Adapt lessons to different skill levels, encouraging creativity and confidence
• Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment

Supervision & Student Engagement:

• Supervise students (ages 5 -10) during class activities, ensuring their safety and participation
• Encourage collaboration and problem-solving among students
• Maintain a fun and structured learning environment

Set-Up & Clean-Up:

• Prepare materials and workspace before each session
• Ensure proper clean-up of tools, materials, and workspace after class
• Assist in organizing and maintaining art supplies

Communication & Professionalism:

• Communicate with administrators regarding the students and lessons
• Work collaboratively with other instructors and staff
• Arrive on time and be prepared for each day’s lesson

Added Responsibilities during the School Year Include:

Pick up and or drop off materials for each term to/from the home office in Culver City West/Del Rey 1-2 times per month

- Arrive at least 1/2 hour before class begins

- Bring all supplies to and from the classroom

- Set up and clean up of all materials

- Engage and support all students in creating their art by creatively implementing the themes and curriculum created by LYHA

- Follow a LYHA lesson plan and plan out your term accordingly

- Establish and maintain expected standards of student behavior while maintaining an inspiring, positive, and safe classroom atmosphere

- Build relationships with students and staff

- An understanding of how to implement positive classroom management

- Participate in quarterly planning meetings

- Great communication skills

- Must be dependable and have a strong work ethic

- Must have dependable transportation
