Job Summary
KWI, a Wellesley, MA and NYC-based residential interior design firm, is seeking a talented, experienced Consulting Residential Interior Designer. Prospective candidates must be based in the Boston Area, with quick and easy access to the Boston Design Center being paramount, and easy ability to meet in Wellesley periodically.

The position's primary responsibility is to work directly with our Principal to produce the FF&E portion of a well-orchestrated project, alongside a Purchasing Manager and a Drafter.

All candidates must be able to speak to their prior experience organizing this process from sourcing, to approved design, to creation and management of proposal packages for clients, and also completing and delivering FF&E schedules to project partners.

Duties

  • The Consulting Designer will serve as a fundamental part of the design team: part of the process from immediately following the concept meeting, they will assist with furniture plans, lead sourcing, help create presentations, and then move to quote requests, budget management, and serve as the direct design contact for our purchasing manager. Therefore, experience in all these areas are topics we want to hear candidates speak about in their cover letter and interview.

Requirements

  • Ideal candidates will have:
  • 5+ Full-time years of experience in the residential sector, at high-end firms
  • A preference to work on private residential work, with a small but skilled team
  • Be able to show a portfolio that represents of a range of styles, and technical skills
  • Ease with working with team members and project partners both in person and remotely
  • A 4-year Bachelor's Degree in Interior Design or a Master's Degree is required
  • Fluency to speak and write English
  • A valid US Driver's License
  • Proficiency with numbers and naturally be meticulous with details
  • A strong command of AutoCAD, Studio Designer, accounting software, and be proficient in PowerPoint and Adobe
  • Thorough knowledge of the Boston and online sourcing markets
  • Solid command of upholstery detailing
  • Note: 3-D rendering skills for quick spatial studies are a plus.
  • Candidates must be available for:
  • In-person work in Wellesley and remote work from your home or studio
  • Project lifeline would be mostly during February 2026 with proposal package prep possibly extending into early March 2026.
  • Ability to schedule any in-person meeting hours with the Principal, in Wellesley, between 10AM-2PM, Tue- Friday.
  • Hourly Rate determined will be commensurate with experience.
